Tay - Maxiell for Crash

Post#1 » by roc » Mon Jan 14, 2008 6:42 am

Inspired by Hunter's deal...

Tay/Max/08 1st/waive Murray for Crash/Harrington/Anderson(waived?)

I prefer Crash to RJ from a defensive and energy/hustle perspective and he doesn't have that noggin. :D

Crash can also take some PF minutes if need be which is a bonus in my book if we lose J Max.

Charlotte loses their leader but gets back a playoff tested Prince who should fit right in as should Maxiell. I could see both of them busting out like Nazr when given a larger role.

A pick may be needed to grease the wheel.

IF dealing with Charlotte I think Amir may make more sense than Maxiell. Charlotte is still a young team and building for the future and Amir has bigger upside. Tay, Amir + 1st for Crash + filler. Again, it's probaby over paying but if you want to pry a guy like Crash free you'll have to.

Plus then Detroit gets to keep Maxiells productivity.

I assume Crash is Gerald Wallace?

Sounds like a deal to me.

I was also thinking they might prefer Amir. Maybe Amir/Prince/1st round pick/Minnys second?

As far as Amir or Max...

I think they want to do more to win now hence Max > Amir. They could have drafted Wright and instead went for a high priced vet in JR. I would bet Jordan wants more wins now instead of later. I could be way off, it's been known to happen now and then.

I figured a 1st would be needed and these replies bear that out, so mote it be, I will edit.

Of course they want to win now, but it's not like Maxiell is going to put them over the top. And don't forget they already have Okafor & Sean May, plus Nazr has been playing very well for them. Amir has a better chance of being an impact player for them in the long run and it would be a situation where he could get some run this year and if he played I think he'd actually do fairly well.

May seems to always be injured and Okafor has had his injury bugs as well. I think Max is better for them. And as was stated about Amir, I think I would prefer to see that happen as a Piston. This deal should open up a little bit of time for him but then we still have Flip so...

Either way I feel it is a fair offer so we will have to see how Cats fans respond.

Amir will never develop in Detroit. Sad, but true.

Tay, Max, a 1st, and an Expiring for Wallace and scrubs?

Eww dude. Eww.

Tay may be inconsistent, but seriously that's too much. Joe's got a man-crush on Tayshaun anyways. He probably wouldn't do a Tay/Gerald deal straight-up. I would, but I wouldn't add a whole lot to it (maybe a first). Gerald puts up some numbers in Charlotte, but he'd get a LOT less shots here, and I'm not too keen on his TOs or his injury issues.

Kind of my thoughts.... and he wont be allowed to gamble for steals all the time while playing with the pistons.

If we were going to get Gerald Wallace, who I really like, it would have been in the deal with Nazr.

Crash means everything to us. He's our leader, our excitement, our everything guy...basically the heart and soul. He's been here since the beginning, and this is HIS team.

A fair trade, but I'd pass just the same.

I don't blame ya, wonder what Jordan would do if offered this. Probably turn it down would be my guess but he would be tempted at least.

I do think it's heavy for us no doubt, so he probably would be tempted. Thing is Crash is "electric", making him a huge fan favorite. It'd hurt short term because of that and because of our situation that has to play a huge role...so I'd lean toward him not doing it.

Didn't Detroit express interest last year when he was a FA? I knew the Lakers did...rumor had them offering a 3 way with us getting Dickie Jefferson for Crash. Jordan supposedly turned that down flat.

Wallace's value to his team greatly exceeds his trade value.

This is fair value for the guy, but it would take more than this for the Bobcats to give him up.

It would be hard to make a trade work with Amir and Crash since both are BYC players. Is Charlotte under the salary cap?

I agree completely that Amir will never develop in Detroit. If I was his agent I'd be requesting a trade right about now.

I'd pay the hefty price as a Detroit fan, but fully expect and understand Charlotte would turning it down.
Rip Hamilton is a stain on the Pistons franchise.
