Tay + Maxiell for RJ

Detroit Trades
Tayshaun Prince, Jason Maxiell + expirings (Primoz Brezec, Walter Hermann & Flip Murray)

New Jersey Trades
Richard Jefferson & Jason Collins

I realize RJ is having an All-Star year, but it's not reflected in the standings and is taking away a bit from Vince. I actually think Tayshaun may be the better compliment and Maxiell would certainly add to that frontcourt. Both guys could easily see career years themselves playing along side JKIdd, and a future frontline of Tay, Maxiell & S. Williams (+Kristic when he gets his **** together) is pretty damn good. Plus (and take note of this NJ fans) Tay has NEVER missed a game due to injury. Despite his thin frame the dude is durable as hell. They also get back over $6 mil in expirings for Collins who has sorta fallen outa favor of late.

Detroit opens up a few more minutes for Amir Johnson, and adds another solid post-defender to the roster. They'd probably have to strongly consider bringing back CWebb though since you don't really wanna rely on Collins & Amir should anything happen to Sheed or Dice.

pistons are playing well. so, there goes the saying, if it ain't broken, don't change/replace it.

The goal isn't to play well. It's to win championships. I don't see the Pistons doing that unless they make some sort of a move.

Detroit passes don't need this trade. Maxiell is our energy off the bench.

Seems like a decent move for both sides, but Detroit is so good because of their chemistry, and I dont think they want to change that. And I disagree that they have to make a move to compete, and if they do it has to address the 5 spot.

I don't understand why Detroit would do this trade.

Jefferson is having a great season, but Prince is a perfect fit in their system and one of the best defenders in the NBA not to mention he scores at a similar efficiency (though I understand not at the same volume, but Jefferson likely wouldn't be a 25 ppg scorer on the Pistons either)

And even if you consider Jefferson to be better, the difference definitely isn't Maxiell who's their energy and spark off the bench (9 points, 6 boards and 1 and half blocks in under 25 minutes). Not to mention Collins has negative value at this point.

Detroit passes IMO.

It's not 5's that kill us. We actually match up pretty well against the other elite bigmen in the league with Dice & Sheed; it's guys like LeBron & Pierce that abuse the hell outa Tay.

RJ + Amir > Prince + Maxiell, imo. Plus we turn Brezec into Collins.

I like RJ slightly better than Tay, but Max is a lot to give up. It would have to be EITHER Max or taking on Collins, not both.

Not sure I understand all the negativity surrounding Collins. I know he's overpaid and doesn't put up big numbers, but he's only got 2 years on his deal (expiring the same time as Sheed) and is one of the best post-defenders in the league. I view him as an asset, while it appears everybody else considers him an albatross. :dontknow:

the difference between rj and tay is maximum a second round pick.hell, i would even pick tay cause he never had problems with injuries.

Tay has played like **** the last few games, but that is not the reason I would do this trade. RJ CAN SLASH! He can get to the rim and would be the only starter capable of doing so... hell... he and Stuckey would be the only ones capable of getting to the rim on a consistent basis on our whole team. I know max is alot to give up, but this opens up time for Amir, and that is something I want to see.

Tays durability would be missed, but I can see RJ as a Piston type player putting up some nice numbers; especially on the boards where tay is non- existent some times.

I just checked RJ's stats and his rebounding numbers look pathetic for his ability. A couple years ago, he was getting 7 boards each night... what happened? I guess Prince is the better rebounder...now :-?
