It's hard to recall a team with as much promise as the Chicago Bulls boasted back in October falling so hard within the frame of a half-season. Probably because no other team in recent NBA history has tanked so poorly without the crutch of a team-wide run of injuries.
Chicago lost in Atlanta on Sunday, by 21, just a few hours after taking a team-wide vote that led to the unanimous ruling that rookie big man Joakim Noah sit another game following an altercation at Friday shootaround with assistant coach Ron Adams.
It was a curious show of solidarity from a team that has been passing the buck all season. Veterans Adrian Griffin (who doesn't play) and Ben Wallace (who doesn't play well) called a team meeting before a 1st quarter that saw them outscored by Atlanta 38-22, which led to the extension of the suspension of the 21-year old scapegoat.
The Bulls have won five of nine games under interim coach Jim Boylan, which sounds nice for a 14-21 outfit until you realize that ex-coach Scott Skiles (who, make no mistake, sealed his fate with a stubborn streak and poor rotation choices) had gone 5-5 with the team directly before his dismissal against much stiffer competition.

Not to be all melodramatic but this week is the biggest week of the season. 4 Games, all tough (2 road, and 2 at home). If the Bulls can split those games, then I'd say they're not out of anything. But anything less than a split, and this team should just lose the rest of the season. They have to try to go for a split this week, if not better. Otherwise, if they thought the pressure at the start of the season was bad, that'll be just tip of the iceberg if this weeks is followed up by more bad play & losses.

how much longer can we be splitting though? we've already lost bunnies on this trip...we're playing right around .500 after an awful start...if that doesn't pick up we can't really rely on .500 to get us to the playoffs. we need a win streak to make up for our start.
