Apparently Chris Mannix wrote an article in frickin Sports Illustrated saying the Zards were better off without Gil, can't find a link to it though, maybe it's in the paper edition only or something.

"I want a new contract for the longevity of it and get another six years at the end of this deal," said Arenas, who is making $11.9 million this season. "I don't know what's going to happen. I could have signed an extension this year, but it wasn't going to make sense for me. If my own team doesn't take me, I'll go somewhere for a lot less to win a championship."

If he wants to win a championship why not take less money here so we can bring in an Elton Brand type player.

I'd much rather participate in a "Gil, stop doing interviews every couple months where you repeat the same repetitive, whiny information about how you are going to opt out" thread.

Gee Wiz Gil, you're opting out??? No $h!t Sherlock. I'm just about sick of hearing about it. Okay, so if we don't give you big bucks, you'll say **** us and sign somewhere else for much less to win a Championship. That tells me two things. Gil doesn't think we are Championship caliber, and he's a lying biatch. If these comments are true. I say **** him up the arse with a pitchfork and sign Brand in the offseason.

Lata Gil, aint getting no love from me. Now I need a new sig.

Nah, I'm only tired of hearing this story, and Gil isn't exactly helping the situation.

Gil,

We love you and will be a better team with you. However, if you really want to win a championship, play better D, make a more concerted effort to get everyone involved, and stop being an "entertainer" and start being a "leader."

So a journalist from Boston who has no clue about the NBA outside of his own team thinks he found a breaking story about Gil opting out and asks him a few questions. Now all of that is Gil's fault that the ran a story from the interview acting like this is some brand new revelation.

Gil is simply very fan and media friendly and will answer just about anything asked of him. Gil never has the PC answer ready and usually just says whatever comes to him, which could be different each day depending on his mood.

That is something I actually love about Gil and hope he never changes into that robot cookie cutter comment maker that most of the NBA players are today. NBA needs more characters like him!
