Bosh simply amazes me..
This is a slightly different thread from the other Bosh thread and wanted to get some discussion going. I agree his game has been absolutely amazing especially against players who you think will cause him the most trouble like Lee, Jefferies, Varejo, Aldridge and other smaller swings like Outlaw and Balkman but he continues to dominate those players. Imagine what he can do to other slower players if he plays like this..
Anywho, i was at the game yesterday and noticed how players like Frye and Aldridge in their 3rd and 2nd year respectively and still younger than Bosh are literally, twice as big as Bosh(Ok maybe an exaggeration). I mean both those players were wider, had stronger base, bigger arms and chest and in general seemed just plain big compared to Bosh, yet he continues to dominate them. I understadn how he's been in the league for a longer period of time but what amazes me is how he continues to dominate players not only offensively but rebounding wise, defensively(man to man and shot blocking) even when he gives up so much strength. I mean its so weird when Lamarcus was posting Bosh up you could see how easily he was getting position and could make his move where as Bosh was struggling all through the game with whoever was guarding him. Yet Bosh managed to alter more shots, score more and defend much better as well.
I guess the whole point of my thread is to figure out how Bosh manages to defy all odds and do what he's doing right now. Surely his only real asset over most players is his quickness east west offensively. he is not the most atheltic, strong, big, or even quick (north south) player yet he manages to be soo good. Is it his heart, his intelligence/IQ or his skill level which allows him to dominate so well.
Whatever it is do you think he will continue on this pattern and be able to overcome all odds to lead us to a championship(with the right supporting cast)?

Bosh is a good player. I wasn't too critical of him earlier in the season when he was struggling because he didn't quit when his offense wasn't there. He'll get you the rebounds, he'll play you the defense. When he's tired, he'll try to find a way to play through it. It's hard to criticize a hard worker.
His intelligence/IQ is something that bothers me though. He takes way too long to make up his mind on what to do when isolated which gives adequate time for the opposing team defense to be set. His passing-off ability out of double-teams ability still needs work. Good thing he's 23, and with more experience hopefully he'll correct these problems.
Oh the most important thing I want to see is how he'll fare in the playoffs. We all know what a disappointing playoff appearance was for him last year. What I would hate for Bosh is to turn out to be another KG or a T-MAC--great individually but first-round exits every playoff.

I totally see what you're saying and respect everything Bosh does. I respect him immensely,
But he doesn't seem like the type of guy who can lead them to the championship on his own.
I personally think they need somebody else with a equal or greater skill set (Wish it could have been Bargs, but I don't see that happening now).
I don't think he's on the level of a Tim Duncan and unfortunately I don't see him getting there.

Offensively, he
a) has excellent coordination and 'feel' for the basket when he is near the basket
b) has very soft hands to execute those little lay-ins around the basket [opposed to say B. Haywood who is a clunky robot]
c) incredible motor. He's been getting pounded ever since his rookie year and he keeps coming back for more
d) can contour his body into weird angles to make those seemingly difficult shots [much like how Kobe does it as a guard]

Nobody can lead a team on their own. Even MJ needed Pippen. TD has always had a great cast around him ever since he was a rookie. The only player I can think of who led his team on his own without a very good cast was Hakeem.

Bosh went through a stretch of scoring like this last season too, he was just straight dominate, but the question is, can he continue to get to the rim at will and take over games on a consistent basis? That's what I'll be looking for, starting against the Pistons tomorrow. I really think he has a chance to step up and continue this level of play, we're so much better when he's aggressive on offense and is trying to take over games. It's all about gaining that killer instinct, this is his team, this is his league, he needs to play with a superstar mentality every single night. The game, ability and skills are there, he just needs that state of mind for 82 games and the playoffs.

Word. Bosh has to be relentless. That's why I think Dwight won't ever reach his true potential. To me, he's too nice.

I think that Bosh's greatest strength is definitely his mental toughness. Every time he has faced a challenge, he has come back to conquer it. He is very methodical, analytical, and goal oriented - something sorely lacking in many players in the game today.
Excellent character too.

I always liked the Garnett comparison. KG came in to the league thin as a rail. Even though he has put on some good weight he still has a body type that makes him quick and explosive.
Bosh may not be KG, but he seems to be blessed with similar tools.
These guys will never get fat... pushing 50 I expect their bodies to remain the same proportionally.
This may be a good thing in terms of durability and stay power in the league.

I really wish Bargs would learn to man-up the same way Bosh has.
Bosh got a franchise given to him, plus all the attention and shots he needed from the coaching staff to develop him into what he is today.
Bargs comes into a situation where he needs to produce at a different position right away.
