The Lakers are a playoff team without Bynum, but they're no longer a threat to beat the top teams. With Bynum they were a top 5 team, without him they are just a top 12 team. A good team, but not a special team.

Oh well, these last couple months were the most exciting 2 months I've experienced as a Laker fan since the 3-peat era. Bynum is like my basketball viagra. Without him I can't really get into the game.

Well, we arent exactly doctors, so we know nothing more than whats being reported.

Your guess is as good as mine at this point.

Bynum;s loss should not be that damn difficult if only the replacing center can catch a damn pass.. Seriously if we had a Wilcox the Lakers will not miss a beat. But Kwame... ehhh...

wow. I knew Kwame wasnt all-star material, but the guy is completely worthless out there today.

No offensive game to speak of, doesnt try at rebounds, doesnt go for loose balls, slow on the pick and roll, and doesnt try to contest shots.

Collison looks like Wilt out there.

Its gonna be a tough 2 month sin Lakerland...

A few interesting things about this injury situation:

Before the injury Lakers fans were really high on Bynum and his impact on the team, now that hes injured people are saying "Well, someone will step up and fill his production." I dont think that is the case, the team will suffer and have to adjust to not having any real post presence.

Given the upcoming schedule for the Lakers and the fact theres only 4 games seperating them from the 8th seed Warriors this could be cause for major concern. The two teams on the edge of the playoff picture (Utah & Houston) are by no means out of the race and are both definately "underachieving" given the pre-season expectations of them, I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of those teams went on a significant streak some time soon.

So if the Lakers do lose 4 or 5 games in the next month they could find themselves at the bottom or out of the playoff seedings.

Alternitavely, If Bynum's absence has no impact on the Lakers form what does that say about his value? Will he still be worth a max extension if the Lakers are no worse off without him?

By any means its certainly good news for the Hornets.

The best thing right now would be to go out and sign Chris Webber. If the Lakers can get Webber, a chemistry guy, they could get in a groove. The defense will probably still suffer, but the Lakers will win more games while Bynum is out.

Sucks, he was playing so well too, finishing around the basket, an intimidating force on defense and cleaning up the boards. Really turning into a more dominant force on occasions. Doesn't help that Kwame Brown is the backup either. Hopefully he recovers and comes back soon.

Werd. I was walking around work with a perpetual tent.

W/o Bynum, they have to scrap it out with Memphis and Seattle. Top 12 is being very nice...

Sadly, this probably means Kobe will win the scoring title again this year as he goes on a streak of 40-60 point games.

On the brightside, ESPN classic will get a lot of new material to use for when Kobe retires.

Shaq should ask for a buyout and play for the minimum so he can be Kobe Bryant's sidekick again.
