GILBERT ARENAS SHOULD WE TARGET HIM ?

Post#1 » by dozencousins » Tue Jan 15, 2008 2:08 am

i usually dont start this type of post and as a die hard kings fan as anyone here i think we should attempt to swing a deal for him !

1. he already has let it be known that he will opt out either way when healthy he is easilt a top 10 overall player in the nba if not a top 5 i think this may push the wizards to deal him !

i realize we want to create cap space but he is still young and i think woth more as a reward rather than a risk in trade scenerio were we dont give up a draft pick and we offer bibby & a filler for arenas and a filler i think would be great !

would you guys my fellow kings fans llike to see us attempt a deal for arenas ?

i would like to see it happen though i doubt it will but could see it happening !

kings 4 life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do we want Arenas for? I really doubt he would play in Sacramento assuming he wants to play on a contender... Besides Arenas does us no good anyways....

he doesn't like geoff anyway, cause he drafted G-Wallace after he told Arenas he would draft him if he was still available

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

doesnt arenas still has some grudge against the kings because they promise they'll draft him but then pass up on him?

We dont need another is shoot first and no d PG... We already have that in Bibby to some extent (He will be playing defense soon)

i dont recall that petrie promised him anything !

also arenas is a scorer true but he does play better defense than any point guard we have now that is for certain !

everybody is entitled to their opinion and that is what this thread is for i think he would be a huge asset having martin & arenas together with guys like salmons this is to say we ended up trading bibby this year wich i think most all of us see us doing !

I would rather try to figure out a way to make a run at Chris Paul in 2009.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

NO would be burned down to a crisp if their management let Chris Paul go.

I'm big time on board with that one!

Arenas is of little use to us when we already have a 25 ppg scorer in Martin in the backcourt. We need a point that looks to run the offense first AND can score when needed.

Unrealistic... money and team situation.

And be at least an effective defender. The defense starts with your PG. It also adds toughness to any team.

I like Beno starting and Douby coming in off the bench. When we face a big PG Cisco or John can handle the defensive assignment. I the Kings guards: Beno, Martin, Douby with Cisco and John "Big Shot" Salmons at the swing position between tall guard and SF. If Bibby is in the mix all the better. Arenas can fill it up, but there is only one ball :D Defense & assists is what the Kings need with Kevin "makes all his shots" Martin at the 2!!!

couple of points on what's been written so far

Arenas isn't a practical goal, additionally, with his game being so close to Kevin Martin's as far as their scoring, I don't think a team needs to have them both

Chris Paul - I like that idea, of course, it's probably just as likely that he'll resign with the Hornets, but if he doesn't, we should definitely try to make a run at him

Qunicy Douby - Douby is not a PG, the closest thing he is would be a combo guard, and he may even be closer to a pure 2 guard. I think Douby could be best served as a trade commodity rather than part of the Kings long term plans.

The answer to the subject of the thread is no. Nor do we want him.

Return to Sacramento Kings
