Gilbert Arenas plans on opting out

Post#1 » by wfiles » Mon Jan 14, 2008 8:58 pm

We have Kwame's 9 mil coming off and if we trade Odom for an expiring contract, will we have enough to sign Arenas? I'd like to see

PG-Arenas/Fisher/Farmar
SG-Kobe/Crittenton
SF-Ariza/Walton
PF-Radmanovic/Turiaf
C-Bynum/Mihm

if we make a run at gilbert, i would immediately try to trade away either critt or farmar for a legit big man to give us some size down low. with gilbert takin a majority of the mins at pg position, no need to have perfectly good players such as farmar and critt sit in the bench. might as well trade them

We'd have to find a taker for both Odom and Radman's contracts to be able to get far enough under the cap for Arenas. Likely the best we could get for Odom and Radman might be with Miami for Davis+Williams+filler.

I'm not sure if i'd love getting Arenas so much if that's what it took, considering that he and Kobe might not mesh well, and might halt Bynum's development a bit. We're very weak behind Odom at PF, whereas we're pretty good at PG already, too.

ya we'll have to get rid of someone, that will be too many pg's

i don't know how well gilbert and kobe would work
doesn't seem like it would be a great success

What does it say about Gilbert that his team seems to be doing just fine without him?

Arenas is a cancer... We don't need a point guard to dominate the ball... Our chemistry would be horrible... All we need is a strong small forward topair with KB24, Bynum and LO, period...

That line-up is way too small. When Bynum fouls out we're screwed. Arenas is a not the answer. Whos gonna make up for the 10 rebounds odom gets and the 4 rebounds from Kwame, we'll get killed on the board. All other teams needs to do is box on Bynum, and someone else would rebound the ball.

NOt a balance team if u ask me. Fisher & Farmar is good enough to win a championship and their're cheap. Save the money to resign Bynum and another PF.

A good SF would work as well. I think odom is a better PF than SF. Luke is obviously the weak link in the line-up. Get a true starter for his position and we can be a contender. Ron Artest would be perfect. We should save the money to sign him if anyone.

We're the fine the way we are. Critt and Farmar should get more playing time not less.

Since we our weak at SF, why not start Kobe at SF?

PG Fisher/Farmar
SG Arenas/Critt
SF Kobe/Walton/Ariza
PF Odom/Turiaf
C Bynum/Mihm

Line up looks good to me
Do it Mitch! Trade Kwame for SOMEONE GOOD!

Lakers are good at the guards.

Money needs to be spent on some bigs.

Signing Arenas would automatically destroy our team chemistry. Lakers don

a- no room

b- Gil and Kobe while awesome, would be redundant and severely limit our ability to pay anyone else.

If we could bird right Bynum, find a PF combo that works Turiaf/??, and make Kwame + a talented guard turn into room and a serviceable back up big, I'd be into it.

If Kobe is going somewhere Gil is who I want back, but I just don't see us being a contender for him right now.
