Apparently Smith is now a psychologist as he has diagnosed Noah with ADHD.

That and Noah used "a stream of vile street vulgarities" directed at Adam, basically b/c Adams was calling him an idiot (see how the game of telephone goes  )

Some interesting new info though.

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com ... 391.column

ORLANDO -- You figure Joakim Noah had these dates circled on his calendar, a triumphant return to Florida, where he was the face and iconoclastic personality of the University of Florida's back-to-back NCAA champions. He would be the wild kid made good, the Bulls' first-round draft pick back to play the Magic on Tuesday and the Heat on Wednesday.

But Noah wound up trading in his letter sweater for a scarlet letter, suspended not only by his team for a game but also by a vote of his teammates

a stream of vile street vulgarities

What is the difference between a "street" vulgarity, and your run of the mill "home" vulgarity?

If you go on to read the second page, it now seems Noah has replaced Tryus in Sam's doghouse.

I wonder how bad this was on a profanity scale of 1 to 10. With one being a church sermon and 10 being a Darko Milicic rant. I'd guess it was probably a 7 or 8.

it may have been bad but judging from the bulls balls (or lack thereof) on the court..i'm gonna just assume the bulls are being a bunch of nit-picking nancies and their virgin ears couldn't handle it.

Yeah, but I want to know what provoked it. Was it an assault on Noah's intelligence (b/c he can't understand the plays)? :dontknow:

I thought it was funny that Smith used a cursing at your 9-5 office job boss as an analogy. Now I'm in academics and have never done the corporate thing, but I doubt it is common place for bosses to ride their employees like coaches do their athletes; and I have played sports and coaches do regularly curse at their players. So a player cursing a coach isn't close to as severe as Joe middle-management cursing at the VP. :nonono:

So far, Noah seems like a walking contradiction.

"I didn't know you could get suspended by players," he said. "It was the players' decision. They thought I was in the wrong. I don't agree with it. "

Ummmm.... Sounds like he's NOT accepting it and learning from it. Sounds like he's bitter about it.

This was one of the reservations I had about this kid. I felt he was a bit mouthy and had a poor attitude at times. Now it's showing that I may have been right about him.

Time will tell. I am not writing this young man off mind you. Hopefully he DOES learn from this. It just sounds to me like he's pushing out the
proper sayings to appease the media, but probably goes home and kicks the **** out of his dog to vent his frustrations about it.

I don't think this is over.

I have difficulty focusing on things for any length of time. It's why I'm crap in bed. I sometimes approach long posts in several sittings, and rarely make it through about 10 seconds of most songs that I listen to. I know more firs tlines than you could ever imagine. I can't even take a crap without having something to occupy my time while I'm there, even if it's just reading the back of the Toilet Duck.

But I haven't got ADHD. I'm just childish.

As well we shouldn't. Sometimes, the Bulls organization (and some fans) act like young players are never going to do anything stupid. Of course they will. Heck, even our not-so-young players do stupid things, though mostly just on the court.

Not every guy you draft is going to be a overly adjusted pro from the get-go like Elton Brand. And how did we reward Brand's professionalism? By trading him for yet another immature dunking screamer in Tyson Chandler!

Man, he sure is sending mixed signals about whether he "gets it" or not. I agree with Shinky. He knows he was wrong. He's sorry. He doesn't understand why the players got involved. What he is sorry for is being a distraction. He is taking the punishment like a man. He knows he can't lose his cool. But he is who is is and that won't change. He makes "I'm such a bad boy" jokes. He's never made a comment in this whole affair (as far as I can remember) about the whole coming in late and bleary-eyed habit (of course I don't recall Duhon ever getting suspended -- maybe he came in on time and bleary-eyed).

He's definitely trying to say the right things, but underneath it all, it seems to me he's saying he got shafted and everyone made a big deal out of nothing because they are picking on the rook.

Its a 2 for 1 Sam Smith on Noahgate Special! He wrote a second column focusing on Boylan, and whispering about a possible Wallace behind the scenes power play...

Sam the Butcher

Boylan happy to let players be 'bad guy'
By Sam Smith | Tribune pro basketball reporter
10:27 PM CST, January 14, 2008

Interim coach Jim Boylan said he had no problem with the vote by Bulls players to suspend rookie Joakim Noah an extra game for his verbal tirade against assistant Ron Adams.

"I liked the fact our team stepped up and our guys want to take control of some of the disciplinary things and the way we behave," Boylan said. "They're setting some rules of how we will treat people on our team and in our organization, and that's the way it should be.

"Your team should be able to govern themselves, and when there's a tough disciplinary action that needs to be taken, it's not management and the coach who always have to be the so-called bad guy. When it comes from the players it certainly carries a lot more meaning. I think it's a good message for the Chicago Bulls and the rest of the NBA."

Ben Wallace was apparently one of the ringleaders in the move to discipline Noah, which is surprising in that Wallace has backed away from all leadership responsibilities with the Bulls, even asking not to be a captain this season.

Is Wallace threatened by Noah, who plays a similar game and is younger? Or does Wallace feel empowered to take a more active role now that Scott Skiles is gone? Wallace, after all, is thought to have played a role in Skiles' demise.

Some who know Wallace say he'll try to play "the Man" role he never really grasped under Skiles. Perhaps that means he'll respond with better play.

Or does he simply hijack the team and have it splinter around him?

Pax backs team penalizing Noah
January 15, 2008
BY BRIAN HANLEY

Bulls general manager John Paxson said today he had no problem with Bulls players voting to make Joakim Noah sit out an extra game as punishment for his run-in with assistant coach Ron Adams.
Paxson said he helped coach Jim Boylan determine the initial one-game suspension, but supported the players

John Jackson

As the media entered the arena where the Bulls practiced in Orlando today, Joakim Noah was seen laughing with teammates Thabo Sefolosha and Luol Deng. It was a picture of unity as the team tries to rebound from a strange weekend.

The Bulls unanimously voted to extend Noah's suspension to two games following the rookie's tirade against assistant coach Ron Adams. The second game was Sunday's ugly loss in Atlanta. When asked about it Sunday, Noah told reporters to ask the players who did the voting.

But today he said that while he may not have agreed with the decision and wasn't happy about it, he accepted it and is moving on without holding any grudge.

I just want to come back and play and help the team win, he said, while adding he wouldn't hold any grudges. In fact, Noah added some levity by quipping:

If certain players felt a bigger penalty should have been given, they should have given their input to the coach earlier, not after the penalty was already given.

It would be very interesting in knowing how many people actually voted to give him another game and of those who vote, who just went along with the main guys leading the vote to not cause any more friction.

The vote doesn't look like that big of a deal, but I think it's helping divide this team especially if some players said yes when they really didn't want to, but we'll probably never know about that.

I think you have to be careful in seculating whether someone has ADD or a similar problem. On Hoops Hype there's a link to an article about how Chris Kaman took medication for years for ADD, only to learn that he had been misdiagnosed.

I was listening to the radio last night, and B&B said this is basically what Noah said.

Adams was harping on Noah and said something along the lines of, "look Jo, you are in the wrong spot, you need to be in the right spot, every time, in order for us to be winners"

Then Noah goes off and says something along the lines of "Don't you mother f'in tell me about mother f'in winning, mother f'er"

Not really a huge deal, IMO, and as usual got blown way out of preportion.
