Miami still has time to right this season, and even if they don't, they have the pieces to contend next year. Downside is there is a lot of salary locked up, and not much coming off the books over the next few years, but should still be a power house in the East. They also give up a good prospect through the draft pick.
NJ gets player to add instant perimiter defense in Artest, and a solid rebounder in Haslem. Together they would more than make up for lost point production of Jefferson. Also frees up salary in the future. NJ gives up promising rookie in Williams, but still becomes a better team. Boone will still be a very productive rookie. This team will make the playoffs, and would match up well against other east teams.
SAC gets S. Williams (good fit at PF for Sac), a 1st Round Draft Pick, and a lot of salary relief. Artest is the odd man out with Martin, Salmons, Garcia playing so well, and if he extends with NJ will be playing in NY in 2009. He can compete for a Champoinship. Mike Bibby and SAR haven't even played a game yet this year, so they will not be missed from current team chemistry.

Even if they get Bibby and Richard Jefferson in return? If Miami does the trade, they won't be at the bottom of the East when the season ends, that is the whole point. They might not make the playoffs this year, but you also can't count out a team that has the scoring power of Wade, Bibby and Jefferson. And I didn't think that Miami wanted to go into rebuilding mode.
Who is this a bad deal for? I'm not trying to defend it if it is, it easily could be a terrible deal. I'd just like to see how, to help me not make stupid posts in the future.
