I agree with Hartman on this one. They are 80% crap rumor and trouble stirring there, but I saw Kobe was killing me last night.
a-horrible ball hog(it's one thing to get aggressive without Andrew, it's another to stagnate and not look for teammates)
b-looked sick(still hit a decent percentage of shots, but at the cost of the team ball we've been playing)
c-This is partially Phil's problem- ultimately if Kobe stops trusting the other 12 players on our roster just because Drew isn't there, it's Phil's job to remind him we have guys who can still hit shots)
To be honest though Lamar, while doing a number of good things was responsible for a ton of Collison points and his offense was pretty awful. Kwame, known for at least defense, sucked on D last night.
I'm not too worried about Kobe or the team if we can get back to team ball, but to revert back to last year's All Kobe all the time would permanently cripple us for the playoffs in my opinion.
So in conclusion... other than being the glam over the top radio version of what happened, I agree with 570.

I hate to say so after he basically bailed us out last night, but I agree. No matter how well he shot, now matter how many big buckets he scored, 44 shot attempts in a single game just isn't conducive to good team play. Even with Andrew out, I thought we'd gotten past the point of needing Kobe to do everything on his own. I guess not.

Kobe shooting that many times was essential for us to win.
We had just lost a huge part to our offense and defense in Bynum, we clearly looked somewhat out of sync on, at the very least, the defensive end.. Which is understandable considering we had less than a day to prepare for playing without Bynum.
We weren't winning that game with "team ball", IMO.
I was only really dissapointed with Kobe's rebounding. 2 in 42 minutes? 1 before Overtime? C'mon. With Bynum out we needed everyone to attack the boards -- Kobe didn't.

Indeed, it will cripple us. I realize that Kobe needs to pick it up a little bit as far as scoring goes, but I was thinking maybe 24-25 shots per game, not friggin' 40+. I think he needs to find a way to get other guys going instead of looking for the quick fix, as our chemistry will be way out of wack when Bynum comes back if he continues to do that.

I'm not about to get too upset over one game, on the road, at the end of a back-to-back without our second-best player. He did what probably had to be done, and I'll leave it at that.
But I can't tell you how disappointed I'll be if we're still needing Kobe to shoot 44 times to win six weeks from now. I'm really hoping we've matured beyond that.
Even when it works, or is necessary, I just don't like watching 1-on-5 basketball.
EDIT -- It seems to me that Kobe was getting double teamed for much of the game, at least down the stretch. I know he was hitting, and I know the rest of the team, for the most part, wasn't. But there's GOT to be a way to capitalize on that.

No, it really wasn't essential. There were plenty of times where Kobe could have given the ball up to a wide open teammate and let them shoot instead. I'm talking about situations where Kobe missed because the shot was difficult, and guys like Derek Fisher and Luke Walton are standing around wide open. You can't go away from trusting teammates just because Bynum isn't there. If a guy is open and has a better look, you pass it to them. Last night Kobe wasn't interested in doing that.
Now, I'm thankful for the win and I think it was an awesome performance by Kobe, but I didn't really like how he wasn't looking to get anyone else involved. That's got to change if we expect to maintain a high level of play.

+1
I think it about summed it up for me when Kobe came down had two open wing players and literally jumped into all 5 sonics for a contested crap shot.
What Fish can't hit open shots? This isn't Smush anymore. I think we would have won without Kobe in the lineup at all, to be honest. I think think Farmar, Fish, LO, and Critt would have shared the ball and I think that the weird vibe on offense discouraged team defense on the other end. Hopefully last night was an weird situation, but I fear Kobe thinks it reaffirmed his position.
It's hard to watch Kobe vs.
I don't care how many twisting off balance shots he hits, it's ugly ball. I'd rather see the bench mob play all game long.

I couldn't agree with both statements above anymore. Our players can hit shots! But if you take them out on offense they're not going to want to play defense. It's like playing pickup ball at the gym wit a guy who THINKS he's kobe and would rather take a 4 on 1 fadeaway than let an open teammate shoot. I was actually shocked to see what I saw last night.

Come on, it was one game and the first one after Drewski went down, Phil will now have to make the system that works without Bynum and I'm sure Kobe will do anything Phil says, everybody knows Phil wasn't pleased with Kobe taking 44 shots, he even joked about it after the game...but that's what happened..luckily we pulled out a win, hopefuly we'll see more team ball from now on even if it means we lose some games because of that...at least the team chemistry won't suffer.
