Bibby to Orlando

Post#1 » by sackings916 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:27 am

Kings trade:
Mike Bibby

Magic trade:
2008 1st round pick
JJ Redick
Carlos Arroyo
Keyon Dooling
Pat Garrity

Why for Magic: After watching a few of their games their biggest need IMO is a point guard. Bibby can run the offense and put pressure on the defense with his shooting and scoring. They can go small ball with a lineup of Bibby,Nelson,Hedo,Lewis,Howard or start Bogans/Evans over Nelson and have Nelson for scoring off the bench.

Why for Kings: I cant see the Maloofs paying the luxury tax and IMO Bibby will be moved for this reason. Kings get a draft pick, expiring deals, and a decent prospect in Redick who can maybe be used as a sweetener in another deal.

I wouldn't do this from Sacramento's POV.

This is my same view for ALL year:

No deal that includes Bibby...He needs to show what he can do before trading him... IMO people are underrating Bibby to an extent that is unbearable for me to read the disgusting misconceptions about Bibby....

JJ actually isn't a bad prospect but...the Kings already have Martin/Garcia/Artest/Salmons/Douby/Jones at the wings...where would JJ play?

Don't see the point to do it really. With Martin's extension the Kings don't have significant cap space with those expiring contracts and all we really get longterm is a late 1st round pick.

I said before that Bibby's value probably is expirings + mid 1st BUT I don't think that's necessarily what the Kings would want for him because expiring contracts don't help the team out at all (they help the Maloofs out but that's it)

I'm amazed that Kings fans dislike this deal so much.

I'd argue the Magic's biggest need is at SG, because we still have no clear starter. As far as a PG, we'd be better off trying to swing a deal with Philly for Miller.

Iffy. I could see a deal like this going down but just really iffy on whether or not it would be wise move for the Kings. We are basically trading Bibby for air and a late 1st rounder.

This makes little sense for Orlando. Bibby is not the floor general defensive minded PG we need. He is injured and paid a lot more than Andre Miller, and we can likely get Miller for this deal. Orlando would much rather have Brad Miller than Bibby.

We're not interested in Bibby.

He is healthy by tomorrow... :)

Eh, Orlando should pursue Brad instead of Bibby IMO....

Just a general thought for Kings fans... a trade like this for Bibby would cut the number of people on your team with awful hair (Martin, Bibby) completely in half, making your team much easier on the eyes. You'd probably even feel less awkward about cheering for a guy with a fade if there weren't... two. Think about it.
