effective play. Bring it back.

Post#1 » by VCdagreat » Wed Jan 16, 2008 4:42 am

I remember two season ago and just before the raptors nets series, jkidd would always start the break with VC trailing then drop it off and vc would just release a 3 and it was so effective, wht happend, i know VC usually checks to see if all his accesories are on before he starts to run, but i miss that play. Wht about you guys?

Im not bashing VC with that comment, just a joke.

I think the problem is Frank. IMO we have the pieces now - we've seen what this team can potentially do.

We just need a coach to bring it out of them on a consistent basis.

that play is still available but I don't think VC settles for it as much. Let's face it when it went down it was great but when it didn't VC haters would relish pointing it out and frankly I'd like VC's head to be towards the paint. It's a play that he has to be selective about.

On this note of the Nets offense of lack thereof,
I hate when people complain about the good ol' finals days & how the Nets no longer run these days and it's usually a passive-aggressive comment against VC. These people need to wake up. RJ & Kidd are still marvelous in creating fastbreak opportunities at any moment and a VC-less team with Wright and other guys who "would run" didn't exactly set the world on fire.

Increasing fastbreak opportunities is not the solution to the Nets woes. I think they are fine in that area.

What they need to is to reduce their sloppy turnovers & get an actual offense with screens, cutting players (hello VC), ball movement (hello RJ) instead of the "my turn/your turn" offense and it wouldn't hurt if the so called shooters on this team would be consistent (Allen is the only consistent perimeter shooter on this team). Boki / VC / RJ can give you great shooting nights but are not consistent enough this season and who the heck knows where the ball will end up after Wright / Kidd / Armstrong / M.Williams shoot it. Kristc will help on this front.

If they continue to play this stagnate offense then how is it any better than the VC isofests of the past years...? Other than a nice personal accomplishment for RJ it's just as bad if not worse.

Exactly. You cant be 10 feet from the 3 pt line. It worked with Kittles but he made sure he was right behind the 3 pt line. (Old Team Reference)

You are right. RJ and Kidd still are marvelous in creating fastbreak opportunites, but VC should be involved too. RJ, VC and Kidd fastbreak would be better then marvelous. The thing with fast break is that filling the lanes is key. So three people running the break is ideal. That is why we were Finals Material when Kittles/Martin used to run the fastbreak along with RJ. (Another Old Team Plug)
