Miami-Toronto and Miami-GS with $

Post#1 » by Flash is the Future » Wed Jan 16, 2008 4:25 am

Ricky Davis + Canada's own Joel "the one man zone" Anthony (filler)

for

Jason Kaponovich+Juan Dixon (filler).

Kapono's really struggled this month (4.7ppg), with Toronto seeming to need more of a slasher off of the bench. He rebounded tonight in q losing effort. Ricky's expiring, so if it doesn't work out there's no long-term commitment to salary. In that case, this move would also free up enough money to re-sign Calderon and Humpries without approaching the tax. Ricky's played well in Miami. Problem is, he's been our 2nd best player because Shaq's been kind of bad (hopefully he gets his hip fixed). We're not contenders right now, so we'd do this to secure a future piece next to Wade that's already familiar.

PG: TJ Ford/Jose Calderon/Darrick Martin
SG: Anthony Parker/Carlos Delfino
SF: Jamario Moon/Ricky Davis/Joey Graham
PF: Chris Bosh/Kris Humpries/Maceo Baston/Jorge Garbajosa
C: Andrea Bargnani/Rasho Nesterovic/Joel Anthony

Miami then sends JWill+$2,250,000 to GS for a TPE. The 2 million helps to pay for half of what they'd owe JWill. In the draft, we'll hopefor Rose, but if not Rose then Bayless.

PG: Derrick Rose/Chris Quinn
SG: Dwyane Wade/Daequan Cook
SF: Dorell Wright/Jason Kapono
PF: Udonis Haslem/Alexander Johnson
C: Shaquille O'Neal/Mark Blount

or

PG: Jerryd Bayless/Chris Quinn
SG: Dwyane Wade/Daequan Cook
SF: Dorell Wright/Jason Kapono
PF: Udonis Haslem/Alexander Johnson
C: Shaquille O'Neal/Mark Blount

Either way, it's all good.

raptors have already signed Humphries, although this deal is interesting, I dunno whether RD is the type of player Colangelo wants to acquire

its certainly interesting though

Miami is totally screwed, not by this trade, just in their current state. That Shaq contract is going to kill them for the next few years. They better work hard on getting something for JWill and be perfect in the draft, otherwise DWade isn't going to be in the plyoffs for a bit.

The way the Raptors are constructed, Kapono doesn't fit. I would do this trade in a second. Unless Colangelo has something up his sleeve, I would do this. I don't care much for Ricky but the financial flexibility would be nice.
