Nene has tumor removed

Post#1 » by DrewDawg0808 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 6:28 pm

DENVER -- Doctors removed a tumor from Nuggets forward Nene Hilario, according to the player's Web site Tuesday.

The statement said the surgery was done Monday at a Denver hospital, but it did not indicate whether the tumor was cancerous or where it was located.

Nene's medical team will discuss what to do next after getting test results expected by the end of the week, the statement said.

Nene, who is from Brazil, took an indefinite leave of absence Friday. The team hasn't released any information about his condition.

Nene is averaging 6.4 points and 6.4 rebounds. He missed 22 games earlier this season after undergoing left thumb surgery.

He missed all but one game of the 2005-06 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, and he missed 27 games the season before with a variety of ailments.

Hope for the best, as a man and a player!

definitely hope for the best, I would say I'm glad to hear it wasn't something "more" severe...but I wouldn't want to diminish the seriousness of a tumor or cancer for that matter...Best of luck to Nene
although I still may have to drop him from my fantasy league lol

Depends on where the tumor is really, i had a tumor removed from my ankle. I still can't run very well. I don't think its a cancer. An average person grows 3 tumors in their life time. I hope he gets better soon.

Maybe there's a lot of people with more than 3 tumors that helps average it out. Or maybe we just don't know about our tumors....?

I highly digress and disagree with that, you "grow" 3 tumors on average. Or that you do at all. I think the key to it all is figuring out how they grow.

I hope he has a safe and speedy recovery. I wonder if it was malignant or not? I guess it wouldn't matter if they got it all.

Hopefully it was benign - Nene sounded pretty positive about the whole thing, so it almost sounds as though he just had to go through surgery and a short recovery. If it's a short recovery, we should obviously know pretty soon.

Good news. The sooner he recovers and is healthy enough to get back on the court, the better.

Nuggets' Nene has tumor removed, biopsy will determine if cancerous

ATLANTA -- Denver Nuggets forward Nene underwent surgery Monday to remove a testicular tumor, and a biopsy will determine if it was cancerous.

The Brazilian player took an indefinite leave of absence Friday, and there is no timetable for his return.

"Nene is recovering well and in good condition," Dr. Fernando J. Kim said.

The operation was done at Denver Health Medical Center. Kim said a "right testicular mass was found incidentally and it was managed surgically." The tumor was found last week in an exam by team physician Dr. Saurabh Mangalik.

Best wishes to nene

if the tumor is cancerous or if he requires chemo, then he should be done for the season.

It is too bad that the league didn't randomly piss Nene about 3 months ago because they sure could use him right now.

I think Armstrong was out for a couple of years, but I am not a very big cycling fan so I am not real sure on that.

I think how long he is out for depends on if it turns out to be cancer or not. Way to soon to tell right now, hopefully for him (and the team, but him mostly) it isn't cancer and he can be back on the court soon.
