Milwaukee/Portland- Portland get a nice vet

Post#1 » by Vindicater » Wed Jan 16, 2008 4:48 am

Milwaukee Trade:

Bobby Simmons

Portland Trade:

Darius Miles
Sergio Rodriguez.

Conclusions:

Milwaukee: Miles by all accounts is ready to go, he is merely being punished in Portland for past transgressions. His contract is almost exactly the same as Simmons. Rodriguez is a great PG prospect to groom as a backup for Williams.

Portland: They dont want Miles to play, neither the Blazers or the fans want it so why not move him for a player in Simmons who fits quite nicely into what the Blazers are trying to do. For the same price as Miles they get a veteren who plays defense and can fill out their hole at the swingman spot.

Thoughts?
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

Simmons' value is not much higher than Miles. Portland says no. James Jones is doing what you say Simmons can bring to the Blazers for a fraction of the practice. They do not have a hole at the 3 with Webster, Jones and Outlaw making meaningful contributions.

In this case "nice vet" means "overpaid garbage."

meh, I don't really see what purpose Simmons fills, we already have 3 SF who are all having solid to good seasons.

If Simmons contract was finished after the 08/09 season, this proposal would at least be considered by portland. It would greatly enhance portland's options for cap-space in 2009. But it doesn't so there's no way portland considers this trade.

Easy no for the Blazers. Even if you took Sergio out of the deal, I still doubt Portland considers this.

And LOL @ calling Simmons a "nice vet". He's about as nice a vet as Darius is right now.
