ORL/SEA/HOU trade proposal

Post#1 » by MagicHolland » Wed Jan 16, 2008 5:33 pm

Hey guys,

I have this trade proposal that I think is pretty fair. I know this won't ever happen, but it's worth discussing anyways. I do like to say that I really like Hedo and this is not because of his recent struggles, but he's our biggest piece of value. I'd like to upgrade 3 positions and especially get Lewis back at his SF spot.

So here it goes!

Houston trades: Battier and 2008 lottery protected pick

Houston gets: Hedo Turkoglu

Seattle trades: Kurt Thomas, Earl Watson

Seattle gets: Redick, Arroyo (exp), Garrity (exp) and Houston's 2008 lottery protected pick

Orlando trades: Redick, Turkoglu, Arroyo and Garrity

Orlando gets: Thomas, Watson and Battier

Houston upgrades their roster with Hedo, who's a very good shooter, creates opportunities for teammates and for himself, has great size and I think he'll complement Yao very good. Houston does downgrade defensively.

Seattle basically get's rid of a big contract while getting a young SG in Redick and picking up a decent pick in 2008's draft.

Orlando gets some defense and gets a true PF to move Lewis back to his natural position SF. They do lose some creativity and scoring.

Seattle fans liked the deal. I think Houston would agree on it also. Now let's see what we'd have after this trade:

Nelson/Watson/Dooling
Battier/Bogans/Dooling
Lewis/Evans
Thomas/Augustine/Cook
Dwight/Foyle/Gortat

After this I'd like to move Dooling with our pick or the rights to Vasquez to add some scoring of the bench. I like Dooling don't get me wrong, but with Battier and Watson he has more trade value than playing value..

How about Lewis for Tmac and Durant.

We get Tmac/Durant and Houston/Seattle goes to civil war for Lewis?

We'll he certainly can guard SG's especially the ones that would matter, infact he'd be on them even if he was a "Sf" and offense it really doesnt matter since he'd be on the perimeter for the 3 ball.

I love Battier - how can anyone not?

Co-signed.
There's nothing in there that would really make us better, maybe the same at best.

How does this trade NOT make us better ??? Getting a guy like Thomas to play a rebounding/defensive PF and a defensive ,3pt shooting Battier at the SG spot is exactly what we need IMO The only problem I have with the trade is Kurt's age . If we could somehow get Wilcox instead of Thomas that would be a helluva deal for us . That will never happen though

Kurt has a bad contract, is old, gets hurt too much, and really isn't consistent. I'd like Wilcox, but I'd also like LBJ, Kobe, Yao and Chris Paul but that's not happening.

Battier is a good defender but his shot is inconsistent at best and I'd rather keep our Mr. 4th quarter than get a guy that can play some good D.

Earl Watson would probably distribute better than any one of our current PGs, but again, not worth giving up Hedo, picks, Arroyo and JJ.

i watch houston a lot and we def don't want battier. don't let all that he is good defender, mr intangilbe, and does all the little things get to your head. its basically a cover up for him not really being good at anything especially scoring. he is just a good team defender(not a great man defender) and flopper.

Kurt Thomas is an expiring contract ,and yes we do need his specific skill set on this team . The guy is a very good rebounder , shot blocker , and defender . How can you say we DONT need that ? His age is a problem for me as well , but he would be a great stop gap until we can get a long term solution at PF . As I said before , I would prefer Wilcox too

you are correct kurt thomas is expiring so basically its kurt and earl (getting paid more than jameer) for hedo then reddick arroyo garrity for battier on a long term contract that isnt really all that friendly

i dunno you are right thomas could be big for us but it just seems like wed be giving up too much... everyone on hear always values our expirings soo much and this doesnt exactly retrieve alot for them... and were giving up hedo on top of all this...

IMO this trade upgrades us PG and SG . Thomas would certainly give us what we need at PF this year . It would be great if we could get Wilcox instead of Thomas ,but that will never happen

Adam , I am not singling just you out, but, people do your homework... Kurt has a WONDERFUL contract. the dude is expiring and is 8 mil off the books...Seattle traded TWO 1st rounders for it...He's not going anywhere for what WE have to offer. That's number 1...

Battier is OVERRATED!! yes he's a good defender, but he is an inconsistent threat, and at SG we need a consistent athletic threat.. all we have are shooters, we need a slasher, someone to take it to the paint and dunk it, or make good entry passes while cutting to the lane, sort of like what jameer does passing wise when he takes it to the basket.

Watson, I like the guy, but he is on a bad contract, and is only better than Jameer by a little, but Jameer playing well, is a much better guard, IMO

Nick Collinson is playing great right now, without sending that pick and if we could somehow swap watson for ridnour I would do it in a heartbeat not likely tho
