let's get a few facts straight here Amir Johnson is considered a big time prospect by NBA executives throughout the league and is highly coveted, he would be getting big minutes on the Knicks, I find it funny how delusional some Knick fans are, these are the same fans a couple years ago who said they would not trade Channing Frye for Kevin Garnett

here is another fact the Knicks pick this year is a highly coveted trading piece as there is a lot of great players likely to come out this year

on paper is Randolph is very good offensive player and is in prime of his playing career

Brezec is only salary filler and an expiring contract

McDyess is good veteran player who is more valuable to a contending team

as far as the deal goes I would have to pause if we got the Knicks first rd pick this yr unprotected but I believe that the Pistons would reject this deal because of the intangibles

trading Amir for the #1 pick is a wash, both will likely be great players eventually

as good as Zach is offensively, he is very bad defensively, he has a huge contract and he would kill the Pistons chemistry which is very important to a team's run for championship (ask the Bulls) could you imagine Zach with Rasheed again? No thanks Pistons pass

Z-Bo could be a nice fit to the Pistons. A Z-Bo, Wallace pairing would work well. Wallace will cover up Z-Bo's defensive deficiencies and Z-Bo will do the dirty work in the post, which Sheed doesn't really enjoy. In a limited amount of games it worked in Portland.

it might work but, more likely it would ruin the Pistons chemisty and the championship chances, not worth the risk

the Pistons would be better off targeting a guy like Pau Gasol than Zach Randolph

A big prospect who hasn't played a lick since being drafted 56th? Just because a guy is tall it doesn't make him a big prospect. And no he wouldn't get big minutes on the Knicks. He has played 35 NBA games in the 3 years he's been in the league. Maybe he'll turn out into a great player but thus far he has shown jack $hit.

Way to generalize an entire fan base based upon a partial statement that was probably taken out of context and even then still didn't represent that vast majority of Knick fan opinions.

I wouldn't consider Brezec mere filler. I don't think he's that bad a backup center. He'd certainly be better than Jerome James but otherwise you're doing a very good job at explaining why the Knicks shouldn't make this deal.

A wash? Based upon what? At least when some Knick fans might have held the opinion that they wouldn't trade Frye for Garnett Frye was coming off a season in which he played a lot and averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds a game. What has Amir done?

^Your missing the point. As indicated by the deal they gave Amir, the Pistons brass clearly thinks highly of the guy as an NBA prospect, but he's only 20 and isnt ready to log major minutes on a contending team. Thus, he's worth at least as much as a Knicks pick that will presumably be protected and not seen for at least a year, at least to the Pistons as currently stand.

You can deride him for not having accomplished much at this level yet, but it doesnt change the facts.

And we still dont want Zach on our team.

And if I was incorrect on the pick being unprotected, than the Knicks shouldnt sacrifice a top 5 pick just to unload Zach, as having Dice doesnt make them better. Even with Amir, its too much.

Personally, I am of the opinion that Amir should be dealt to a team that could use him, but not in a deal that also costs us a solid starter in Dice and brings in Zach Randolph, who I dont believe would help us win games.

as for Amir, there have been several articles about how great of a talent he is, how highly coveted around the league he is, how he would have been a top 5 pick draft pick in the league last yr if he would have came out last yr instead, he dominated the NBDL last season (I realize it is just the D-league but he showed he had great skill) the Spurs, which I consider the best scouting team in the league offered him more money to play for them, he is considered a big time prospect, he plays on a team with so many quality big men so he gets little time it doesn't mean he deosn't have big talent.

but, it doesn't matter Knicks fans don't like the trade, Pistons fans don't like the trade, it is a trade that will never happen so let it go

people need to just stop trying to trade Randolph to Detroit, we don't want him and never will
