Marion to the Cavs

Post#1 » by abekazi » Wed Jan 16, 2008 7:32 pm

What would everyone think of this trade.

Suns Get:

Drew Gooden
Larry Hughes
Ira Newble
2008 1st and 2nd round picks

Cavs Get:

Shawn Marion
Marcus Banks
Eric Piatkowski

I know at first glance this looks horrible but Gooden would give us size at the four and the Suns sytem might be perfect for Hughes. We trade Bank's contract for less years on Hughes's.

Suns Starting Line-up

Amare, Gooden, Hill, Raja, Nash

Bench: Barbosa, Hughes, Skinner, Diaw, Newble etc..

I'm not sure if either team would do that. That's an impressive accomplishment.

1.) adding Hughes AUTOMATICALLY adds a first rounder to the deal.

2.) the suns already have clevelands 2nd rounder the upcoming draft

3.) getting rid of Banks is nice, but taking back a guy who has the same production but makes 3x as much isnt fun.

4.) justifying Hughes is laughable. 3 years and $38 mil vs. 4 years and $17.5 mil must be a joke.

It IS horrible. I'd rather keep Banks if we have to take on Hughes and then lose Marion in the process. Pass :nonono:

agree.

we need a center next to amare and can make do without hughes' contract, too.

diaw for Gooden straight up might be doable.

cleveland fan here..

doubt the cavs would do diaw for gooden straight up and i'm not too sure how marion to the cavs started but here's mine..

gooden
hughes
newble (exp.)
simmons
2008 1st

for

marion
diaw

Probably still not enough, or close, but i think it's better than the first trade and more fair than the second.. you shed diaw's long contract but take back hughes (at least it's shorter). you also get newble who is expiring.. i tried to include banks but it would have had more players (useless ones at that, except maybe shannon brown) coming back and seemed to get even more ridiculous.

Oh yeah. This is great. We get nothing that actually helps us. No backup PG and/or good C. Plus getting Larry Hughes is a negative as well. No thanks.

Fit James in the deal and I'll be interested.

The real reason Marion will not go to Cleveland is because of his agent, Dan Fegan. There is too much bad blood between Fegan and the Cavalier Organization after the ugly Varejao holdout.

This pic is way too inappropriate. KJ7
