Bogut's January stats after 9 games

What a stretch for Andrew. He's teased us before with 3 or 4 very good games but this has been a marvellously consistent run from him. The numbers after 9 games:

18.3 points
9.9 rebounds
3 assists
1.2 blocks
0.4 steals

2 turnovers
3.4 fouls

12.2 FGA for 7.6 FGM (61.8%)
5 FTA for 3.2 FTM (64.4%)

It would be pretty incredible for us if he could maintain this level of production. Only guys averaging 18/10 or better currently are:

Howard
Kaman
Jefferson
Duncan
Jamison
Boozer
Yao
Garnett
West


Pretty good company and Bogut would be more valuable than some of those guys on the list who play no D like Big Al and Jamison.

keep it up, it would be the best thing to happen to the Bucks in 20 years.

As I said in previous posts, Bogut needs to "own" this team. And he has been doing this.

If Bogut plays well then there is a high % that the Bucks will win.

I wish I knew what the heck makes him click.....all of a sudden the synapses fire and he's a top five center. Overnight.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind that he's been spurred on by the fact that LK declared that they would run the offense through him and continue to go to him no matter what when Redd went down. Suddenly the guy knew he could afford to take it on and miss 2 shots without the risk of not seeing the ball again, suddenly he wasn't frustrated as hell working to get position only to watch it go over his head, and most importantly suddenly he knew that the coach believed in him and wanted him to be 'the man' on this team just as he was in college and international ball.

We've had this discussion before PP and you know what my feelings have been on it, but LK coming out tonight and saying essentially that he 'screwed the pooch' by going to Bogut until he missed a shot or two then taking the offense away from him is total confirmation for me. The coaching staff didn't have faith in him, didn't run plays for him and he got frustrated with that. Now suddenly they do and continue doing it through games and 'voila', we've got an allstar.

Let's hope he can keep it up for a long stretch, but even if he doesn't we are now all very aware of just how good he can be, and how much better he could have been before now if used the right way. The key for me will be when he has his first average game. The coaching staff just absolutely HAVE to learn the lesson and go straight back to him next game as if nothing ever happened, and the next game if it happens again until he hits form again.

it's obvious that mo and Redd were holding him back but Larry K had enough and made Bogut the go to guy......slowly this is becoming his team.

I don't think Mo or Redd mind that Bogut is taking the lime light, they both got their contracts, time for Bogut to get his. Might sound cynical here, but gut feeling saying that Bogut want a slice of the pie too...if its not here and the somewhere else.

You do sound cynical. I think Bogut is far too busy rejoicing in the fact that our coaching staff are finally showing some faith in him to give a crap about his extension next year at this point. I also don't think LK would choose to make Bogut the focal point of the offense, and admit to making a mistake by not doing it sooner, purely so that Bogut can get a big extension.

I may be totally wrong here, but Bogut does not seem like the kind of guy to be worrying about money. Dude drives or at least used to drive a pontiac grand prix. He seems like the type of player who actually has an extreme desire and drive to win.

Just playing devil's advocate here. But Phil Jackson recently stated that the reason for Andrew Bynum's improvement is due to the motivation of money.

I said it before, if Bogut is Da Man on the team, the top dog then he has no problems averaging 20/10/3 (assist) easily. Its achievable, but what would be more important is the "wins"...If Bogut + 20/10 + wins...man that be f***ing awesome!!

I think it depends what happens the rest of this year. Not saying he will by any stretch, but if he was to continue to put up his January numbers for the rest of the season many teams would be willing to throw max at him imo.

I suspect Drew owuld accept below market value to go to the right team for him.

For example if the Bucks offered him the max but remained commited to the Mo-Redd backcourt and for example New Orleans or Utah offered a few million less I'd expect him to go.

I think that you might have been trying to allude to this.. but it wasn't clear.. so I thought I'd make sure...

The Monaro isn't a rebadged Pontiac, the Monaro was designed in Adelaide (although did share similarities to the Commodore, which in turn was based on Italian 4 door - can't remember by whom.. Seat??... until the most recent Commodore, because Italian Car manufacturer stopped making their 4 door... hence Holden had to make their own from scratch - bar engine) and hence the pontiac is a rebadged Monaro (which is a quintessentially Australian car --- Possibly why Bogut (and the rest of Australia, when it first got released) was so into it).

Anyhow, sorry of the off topic post - patriotism kicking in.
