He could be a very good 6th man for many teams. Being able to play multiple positions. If he was next to a guard that shoots he can be an effective player at the swing spots. He is actually a really good defender at the 2 and 3. He also has had some value as a spot up shooter.
You are saying comments that make me think you just have not seen him play. It is not his fault our offense is not working.
How could it not be his fault in years past especially in the years where he was the primary ball handler that the offense was slowed to a crawl with no real movement or continuity? Isn't that the role of a PG? And I've seen him enough to realize that he's still overpaid just like many Knicks and many players on many other teams are overpaid.
But as far as 6th man for many teams, here are the '6th men' for the other 29 teams in the NBA right now:
Atlanta - Josh Childress
Boston - James Posey
Charlotte - Nazr Mohammed (who is actually having a bit of a revival in Charlotte)
Chicago - Andres Nocioni
Cleveland - Anderso Varejao
Dallas - Jason Terry
Denver - Linas Kleiza
Detroit - Jason Maxiell
Golden State - Kelena Azubuike
Houston - Bonzi Wells
Indiana - Jeff Foster, Marquis Daniels (take your pick)
LA Clips - Al Thornton
LA Lakers - Jordan Farmar, Vlad Radmanovic, Trevor Ariza, Ronny Turiaf (take your pick)
Memphis - Juan Carlos Navarro, Mike Conley (take your pick)
Miami - Chris Quinn
Milwaukee - Charlie Villanueva
New Jersey - Bostjan Nachbar, Sean Williams, Josh Boone (take your pick)
New Orleans - Bobby Jackson
New York - Nate Robinson, David Lee (take your pick)
Orlando - Mo Evans, Keyon Dooling (take your pick)
Philadelphia - Louis Williams
Phoenix - Leandro Barbosa
Portland - Travis Outlaw
Sacramento - Francisco Garcia
San Antonio - Manu Ginobili
Seattle - Wally Szcerbiak, Nick Collison (take your pick)
Toronto - Jason Kapono, Carlos Delfino (take your pick)
Utah - Paul Milsap, Kyle Korver (take your pick)
Washington - Antonio Daniels, Andray Blatche (take your pick)
On what team would he be the 6th man? New Orleans? Orlando? Chris Quinn has been a sparkplug for the Heat so I doubt Miami. That's about it. Every other team has better (most clearly better) 6th man options.
