Great find. Very in-depth detail of the injury and what happened.
He basically stated, after describing the injury, that it's a pain factor. It could take as little as 4 weeks to 8-plus based on how bad the injury feels after the time. The consensus is a minimum of 8 weeks before conditioning and court time starts.

With whats been said, it looks like Bynum will miss between 27-35games. 16-20 or so being on the road. Its going to be tough. Then there is only about 12-18games before playoffs for Bynum and the team to start getting back in a groove again. It's really really bad news, but it could be worse.
I put hope in Kobe to get us through a third+ of the most difficult part of our season without our second best player. Hopfully the rest of the team picks up the slack ten-fold as well.

But, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the team steps up. We are a much improved team from last year. and as much as it sucks to not have Bynum on the floor I don't want him to come back too soon and risk any further or more serious injury

If he comes back in 8 weeks, he'll miss about 14 games which isn't that bad. I am really hoping for 6 or 7 weeks though.

not sure where you are getting that from... I think you are getting 8weeks confused with 4weeks somehow

He went down against Memphis on the 13th of January.
4weeks would be on Monday, Feburary 11th @ Charolette (Miss 14games)
8weeks would be on Tuesday, March 11th vs. Toronto (Target date imo) (Miss 28games)
Vs Seattle, Fri March 23 would to me be the most likley (after a 4 game roadie, and some good practice with the team). - (Miss 32games)
So somewhere around 30games from what everyone is saying, Hopfully soon (if he is ready), but I really hope that once its healed, its not a serious lingering in-out issue like Mihm, Luke, and Kwame to a certain extent. This injury needs to be top priority and treated correctly, because If I we see him come back for a game or two, then sit for 2weeks, and so on... kiss anything past the 1st round a goodbye.
I see 3 problems:
1. Bynum doesn't completley heal for the rest of the season; either due to idiotic diagnosis/treatment/rushing or his body just doesn't heal properly in time.
2. The Lakers can't keep afloat in their very difficult scedule for 30 or so odd games until Bynum gets back. The WC is very competitive 10-11teams deep.
3. Bynum doesn't have enough time to get into a groove into the playoffs, and same with the team chemistry with him. 12-18 or so games before the playoffs isn't much.
I hope the best, but right now, its not looking too good.

I am not worried about his play when he gets back. He doesn't have to be the first option on this team unlike about 25 other teams where he would be the first option.
These are the things that scare me
1.What scared me is that he said Bynum has something with his pelvis that makes him predisposed to getting these types of injuries. I know almost all big men have something but it still scares me.
2.The other thing that scares me is Andrew Bynum this year was the most underrated player in the league. His coach was even talking about using him as a 6th man when Kwame Freaking Brown returns and that is like putting the 1992 version of Patrick Ewing off the bench for Chris Mihm. Just insane.
3.Andrew Bynum took so much pressure off Kobe and Odom were he let Odom be the type of player that just fits in and is inconsistant but he got the credit for doing the few things that he does do like rebounding.
4.He took pressure off Kobe of having to score 35 points and play insane defense.
5.He took the spotlight off the fact that Odom and Kobe have 0 Chemistry together.
6.He was our only shotblocker who got almost 3 a game.
7.Without him we lose alot of running opps because all those rebounds are gone.
8.He took away our only post offense. If he wasn't playing in an unselfish offense with Kobe Bryant and was in a DHoward/Ming type of role he would have been getting 25 a game.
9.He will be gone so many games this year I am not even sure they will make the playoffs. I know they did last couple of years without Bynum playing like a young Hakeem but the West is a hell of alot more competetive and there are a few playoff teams that are currenly out of the playoffs like the Jazz and the Rockets. Those are the teams we have to worry about now.
There are alot of teams that have became playoff teams and more like the Blazers and the Hornets.
10.Our players are all (but 2-4) very young and can be brought down by this mentally. Hopefully they will step up but just look at the Bulls. They got there feelings hurt and are a young team and now the suck.
Imo we basically need a miracle trade involving Kwame and maybe even Odom like now would be a good time to try for Kwame/Odom/Critt/First rounder for JO.
They also need Chris Webber. He can do alot for them right now.
Mitch needs to step up and do something because I don't think our big men can do it. They are terrible really. Kobe is superman and he is the best player ever but the league is the most talented it's ever been in the history of basketball and not even he can play 1 on 5 against the competition in the West.
If he misses 30 games (which I don't think he will I think he will be playing in under 6 weeks) they will go 10-20. I just hope there is enough basketball left to make a run and maybe a couple of 8 game winning streaks when he gets back.
I know I am a norratic Irish man and it might not be as bad as I think but if we get blown out tonight it will probably prove me right. I don't want to be right here. I just want Webber, Kwame traded and Bynum back in 6 weeks because really they can win a championship with this current group with Bynum playing like a top 3 center behind only Ming and Howard and in Jan you could make a case for him as #1. He has the rebounding of Howard and the offensive skills of Ming.
