One of the bad things about Hump ?

Post#1 » by KRANG » Thu Jan 17, 2008 3:20 am

His hands are so freaking small. This guy juggles so many passes that are thrown at him. You'll notice that he never dunks one handed, because he can't palm the ball. He always dunks with 2 hands. Moon and Parker have bigger hands than him. Thats all. I still like him though.

1- rebound
2- set picks
3- block
4- put backs

thats is it -

hump you are not a scoring option!

Maybe I'm crazy but he seems to be making more jump shots than Bargnani. He's kinda good from 15 ft...

I don't know, I think he's a surprisingly good offensive player. He's a player I could easily see averaging double figures on another team

If Hump can add a 13 foot baseline jumper i'm all for it.

If Hump can stop playing like he's getting paid franchise money, and just focus on the hustle plays and rebounding, then he'd be a great player.

Whenever he's doubled, Ive noticed he forces himself in to draw contact, and he does. If he misses his shots, he misses. If he makes em, I can't complain. He's 1 year younger than Bosh or the same age as him, now give him time.

Inconsistency is also another big problem with his game.

One of many. He's still easily our worst player who sees regular court time. His +/- was terrible last year and it's terrible again this year. The fact is that despite his hustle, we're a much worse team when he's on the floor.

A lot of it has to do with hand position and being prepared to catch the ball.

He also doesn't have the "softest" hands when it comes to handling the ball. Compare him to guys like Carmelo and you may be surprised but watch Rasho who has pretty good handles.

He is playing above expectations this season so I'm willing to overlook his butterfingers.

I love how he was scoring on those fadeaways against Portland!
I still say he is great for the Raps because he always brings energy and rebounding and he has increased his ability to block shots. Hump has been a steal for Arujuo.

You made me look (on FGA that are not inside, i.e. no layups, dunks, tip-in, etc.):
Bargnani 45-136 (.331)
Hump 32-75 (.426)

To not 'LOVE' Hump is fine. But you're wrong.
And like +/- is the FIRST stat you think of when rating a player... PFFT

Kris fills a vital roll on this team.
Since last season he's been asked to make better on court decisions.
He IS better than last year in decision making.
He comes in, rebounds, plays ok D and gets a couple hustle plays around the basket.

This team SORELY needs someone scoring close to the hoop.
Other than Bosh, who else is going there?
And Boards? Yeah. I thought so.

Also, remember in the summer the threads talking about how he put up 1600 shots a day? Or something like that...

A couple of things I would like to see Hump improved on:

1) Passing. He is a blackhole right now. Hump, it's ok to pass if you don't have a shot.

2) FT shooting. He is actually one of the few Raps that do go to the line. So I would like to see him shooting around 70% mark.

Otherwise, I am fairly happy with his play. He is scoring at a decent percentage. And his hustle is what this team needs.

How about on shots 15 feet away or further? Just because Hump can make 42% of his awkward fadeaway jumpers from a couple feet away from the basket doesn't really prove anything because Bargnani's shots are mainly 3's or 20+ footers.

These are shots that are 8 ft away up the 3-pt line, i.e. jumpers (no layups, floaters, dunks, put-backs or tip-ins).
