Am I the only one that doesnt want Pau?
I'm sure a lot of you guys would disagree with me, but I really don't want Pau Gasol. I don't think he is worth the price memphis would be asking for. I would prefer a big shooting guard more than a post up player. Obviously Joe Smith is not the long term answer, but he is good enough for now. And if I were going to get a Power Forward, I would make a big splash by going out and getting Amare Stoudamire. Now thats a star player... Pau, not so much

I don't know what Memphis is asking for in Pau, so gauging whether he's worth that is a tricky thing.
Pau's not an A1 superstar by any stretch, but of the quality players who's names are in the press all the time I would take him.
As for Joe Smith, he's good enough for how long? We only have him under contract for 1 more year, and this year isn't going anywhere. His age prevents him from being an answer for much more than that anyway.
I'd love to get Amare, but do you really think Phoenix will trade him, and do you really think the cost would be anything even remotely feasible for us to pay?

As good as Pau would be for the Bulls in providing a low post presence, your right Sudan, he is not the answer. We need someone who can be dynamic and that is what Amare is. Plus, Amare is athletic and can move up and down the court well. If you could get Amare for Gordon, Noc, Tyrus and a pick I would do it. It would give us much more balanced scoring by having a scoring PG, a scoring SF, a scoring PF and C. I love Gordon and no doubt he would be missed, but let's face it he is not going to resign with the Bulls, so you have to think about that as well. Thabo has shown the past couple of games to be good SG overall. He won't wow you with offense, but he can probably score 10 PPG with his confidence back, plus do everything else D and rebound. I like Amare and would go after him instead of Pau and the packages for both would be about the same.
**Also, we would have to get some bench scoring after trading for Amare. Maybe its Jameson Curry or maybe you would have to go trade for someone else, too, but any trade for Amare would result in a offensively horrible bench, which would need to be corrected.

i'm totally ambivalent toward pau. he's a nice player, not a great one, even if he fills a need. i'm actuall going to lmfao if he's acquired and the bulls in the exchange, lose a player (whomever that might be) that goes to memphis and blows up. the fact that he's been the center piece on 50 win teams and has yet to do jack squat leads me to believe he'll appear as regressed with whatever remainder (hinrich, pau, noc?) is on the bulls when he arrives.
that's not to infer i don't think the bulls need a trade, cause i think they do, BUT imo humble opinion, if an amare isnt' acquireable, then a top flight pg would make noah, gray, and thomas look like much better players than they do with the pg situation on the bulls now.
the chandler love is in direct correlation to this; he's the exact same player, playing next to a PF with some scoring ability and likely drawing double teams, AND a top 5 nba pg that serves him passes that even chandler of the oven mitt hands cant f**k up.

Pau is good ENOUGH for what we need. His presence alone should make our shooters much better.
which shooters?
everybody and they're mama wants to use gordon and noc in a pau deal; they're unquestionably the bulls best shooters
hinrich hasn't got he cojones to make himself dangerous as a scorer; he's content to be average. who's that leave?

I don't think we'd use Gordon and Noc to get Pau. I would hope that we'd use Tyrus + Noc + ????
However, that's the crux of the problem, you need to figure out what it would take to get Memphis to deal. If it's just Tyrus + Noc then it's a no brainer to me. If it's Deng + Gordon it's a no brainer not to do it. If it's somewhere in the middle then who knows.

The owner has already started negotiating in the paper a few weeks ago.
"I live in Chicago and all they talk about up there is getting Pau. So he must be pretty valuable. He's a great post guy. But by discussing him I don't mean we're out there shopping them. If we trade one of our guys, we've got to get a lot back that's good.

I would package TT with Deng and Smith for Gasol and Navaro. This would work under trade checker and I doubt Mem would take anything less. Maybe demand Warrick in return also.
This would give us a nice rotation with a low post player + gives Thabo and Noah (who I would prefer to go instead of TT) some consistent playing time.
Hinrich/Duhon
Gordon/Navaro
Nocioni/Thabo/Warrick
Gasol/Nocioni/Noah/Warrick
Wallace/Noah/Gray
This would give Mem a nice 2/3/4 rotation aswell with
Gay/Miller
Deng/Miller
Smith/TT

Gasol has started to play alot better the last few games + the owner knows that teams are in need of a low post scorer...they won't accept TT+Nocioni...no way. But I am pretty sure Paxson is with you guys and won't offer more.
here we come mediocrity. lets add another 10-16 pick this year and waste another season next year....

that makes no sense...Thabo is a 3 - he is not the big shooting guard we wished for. he has all the skills to be a good small forward in the league. As much as I am all for trading gordon we need a sg to go along Gasol.
so IF a trade goes down (and I don't think so because Paxson is the most passiv GM in the nba) Deng should be the one to go. Noc and Thabo will replace lot of Deng's production and adding Gasol will be a huge +.

2 guys I have always thought we realistically could get
Pau
AK 47
Part of the reason is I suspected we could maybe get them at a discount.
Why memphis is NOT trading him I cannot understand 1) they stink 2) there is no way he is in their long term plans 3) they could get decent value for him.
It befuddles me.
