Chris Sheridan has lost his mind.

From his "trade rumors" column today:

"Amare Stoudemire, Suns
The Suns were willing to move him over the summer when they thought they could get Garnett, and then his name pretty much dropped out of the rumor mill. But one source close to the team told ESPN.com that the Suns very quietly revisited the idea of moving Stoudemire early in December, which would lead one to believe they'll at least be open to fielding offers as the deadline nears.
Just a thought, but doesn't Stoudemire and Atlanta's No. 1 pick, which the Suns own from a prior trade, for Gasol and Hakim Warrick make some sense for both teams? If not that one, what about Stoudemire for Rasheed Wallace?"

How the hell does trading Amare for Gasol make ANY sense for the Suns? And trade Amare for Rasheed straight up?

Obviously there's something about the rumor that all sports writers are morons  If either of this deals would go down I'd seriously throw up big time.

it occurred to me about a month ago that if the suns were goign to trade anybody at all, only amare could get = value. that was when he was really playing poorly tho and even then i wouldnt have considered pau gasol or rasheed = value.

Amare should only be traded for Dwight.

I was actually thinking about what would happen if we traded Amare for LeBron(in a fantasy world where everything that I want to ahppen happens even though it will never, ever, EVER HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE, HEAR THAT CLE FANS?! I UNDERSTAND THAT I'M TALKING OUT OF MY BUTT!!!!!) What position would he play? SG? SF? PF? Hell, we put Diaw at C and he's only an inch taller than LeBron with a lot less muscle mass.

Marion

No doubt he is the best player in the NBA but we would have no big man then.

Yeah, I went through about the same "WTF?!" thought process when I read Sheridan's column today. Amare + ATL pick for Gasol + Warrick makes sense for both teams? Warrick's worth about a mid first-rounder, so that's equal value, but what does Gasol do as well or better than Amare? He's not better defensively, he's not better at running the floor, he's not a better rebounder, he's really good on offense, but still not as good as Amare... moronic.

As for Amare for Sheed, that makes sense, b/c Sheed might be the best on-ball post defender in the NBA, plus he can score inside and outside, so he'd be a good fit for the team. But considering age and overall value, a straight-up swap would be highway robbery for the Pistons. Throw in Maxiell and a pick or something like that and it's probably fair, but do the Pistons do it anymore? The way they're playing, I don't think they consider it.

I know, but I'd still say that's an offer (the Cavs would NEVER come up with) we couldn't turn down.

ESPN is quickly turning into garbage. their bashing of bobby petrino is absurd too (Falcons to Arkansas Razorbacks coach). arthur blank and home depot are huge sponsors so ESPN has unleased the dogs on petrino, not even giving the **** what the negative press is doing to the college program. petrino made a cowardly move, but it should be a dead story now.

If we weren't stuck overpriced contracts with Diaw and Banks this would be a non-issue. Hey, doesn't the Suns still have a certain HUGE TE?

Dream on about us using that TE, just won't happen. We'll let it expire and all be almost as superduper happy as Sarver will be about the money he saved us at the expense of nothing more than a guy that would be redundant thanks to our awesome big men depth anyway and a couple of draft picks that are oh so expensive aka evil :banghead:
