Small Toronto and Miami deal
Toronto outgoing
Jason Kopono
Joey Graham
Miami outgoing
Jason Williams or Ricky Davis
Why for Miami: They get back a favourite from their championship run and a great spot up shooter to drain some wide open 3's for them. His deal maybe a bit longer then they would like but he's still productive in their system.
Why for Toronto: With Williams he provides us a PG for the season and is a huge expiring deal. If Davis is involved he gives us a great swingman who can play both the 2 and 3 and gives us quility depth and is a great rebounding SG/SF with playmaking
Thoughts?

Nah, I like Kapono and I think he'll have his biggest impact for the team when the playoffs hit. We got him in to spread the floor for us and he's done that for the most part, he's still the best three point shooter in the NBA and he's also helped us in being the best 3 point shooting team in the NBA.

Hm, I thought Miami wants to save money in order to stay out of the luxury tax?!
Besides: I'm surprised you don't care about whom to send to Toronto, Flash. I know J-Will is on the decline, but doesn't he still start for your team? Ricky, on the other hand, looks pretty redundant to me with two additional SFs on the roster.

The playoffs are the reason why we let him go in the first place IIRC. He completely fizzled against the Bulls defense.

If we traded JWill here, we'd save money this year. But Riles also wants shooters. And he'd said if we could do it again, we probably would have re-signed Kapono, thus putting us in the luxury tax.

Isn't James Jones the best shooter now? He's got a better percentage then Kopono last time I checked. Sure Kopono is good but I don't think he fits here longterm since we have to factor in Delfino and Moon playing here next year.
Davis gives us a great slasher and a win now guy who can come in and score big buckets and make key plays. I don't see Kopono lasting in our system too long. At least with Ricky and Williams they give us serious cap relief with Kopono off the books so we could add more money to our long term window in '09

I'm not sure if we're cost conscious as much as we are tax conscious. And trading JWill for Kapono would help us save money, just as trading Ricky for him would (but that doesn't work for Toronto so a small filler would be needed.

Agreed, but wouldn't trading Ricky still make more sense? I'm not a Heat fan and therefor don't know too much about their needs, but it's not like trading Williams instead of Davis would put the Heat under the luxury tax limit, and at least keeping Jason would make sense regarding the roster, since Miami is already pretty thin at the PG spot anyway.

We can't trade J-Will for Kapono (even if you include Graham). It doesn't work financially.
