JO-Gasol-Marion deal

Post#1 » by youngcrev » Fri Jan 18, 2008 6:06 am

Indiana Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Marcus Banks
Brian Cardinal
Pau Gasol

Outgoing Players
Shawne Williams
David Harrison
Jermaine O'Neal

The Pacers are forced to take on two ugly contracts, but spin JO off into the younger Pau Gasol. Pau would likely be a much better fit in Jim O'Brien's system as well.

Phoenix Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Shawne Williams
Jermaine O'Neal

Outgoing Players
Marcus Banks
Shawn Marion
Atlanta's 1st round pick

The Suns bring in a defensive big man to put next to Amare. JO and Amare would be the most devastating front court in the league, and they'd have the guards to back them up.

Memphis Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
David Harrison
Shawn Marion
Atlanta's 1st round pick

Outgoing Players
Brian Cardinal
Pau Gasol

The Grizzlies bring in Marion to play the PF position for them. They also manage to dump Cardinal's contract, and pick up a possible lottery pick.

I think the principles involved are JO to Memphis, Gasol to Phoenix and Marion to Indiana because Marion can play the 4 much better in the East, the Grizzles would be tempted for a better low post guy in O'Neal and Gasol allows Amare to play the four, where as JO plays the 4 and Amare stays at the 5.
