LOL... Lets get real here... NJ wouldn't even consider doing this trade. Randolph was had for Channing Frye and Steve Francis and that was when he was averaging 24 and 11 or whatever his numbers were. Then he goes to NY and his numbers take a big dip and now they think they can get Vince Carter for him??? Come on... People who actually believe NJ would consider this at all need to stop following basketball.

Nets should do it. They already have 2 similar players in RJ and VC. They desperately need a guy in the post. I think the Nets, Sixers and Bulls are the only team in the league to benefit from having Z-bo on their roster.

I don't think NJ should do that exact incarnation of the deal, and I think NY gets a little too much, so how about this:

New York trades: Zach Randolph, Jamal Crawford
New York receives: Vince Carter, Jason Collins

New Jersey trades: Vince Carter, Jason Collins
New Jersey receives: Jamal Crawford, Kwame Brown, Sasha Vujanic, 1st round pick (LAL)

LA Lakers trade: Kwame Brown, Sasha Vujanic, 1st round pick
LA Lakers get: Zach Randolph

New Jersey downgrades from Vince to Jamal, but they rid themselves of Collins and would lose $12.5M off the books for next year (putting them at around $47-48M, so they'd have some cap space), and they add a pick.

New York turns a frontcourt mistake into a marquee SG and frees up Lee to start at PF (Marbury, Carter, Balkman, Lee, Curry would be my suggested starting lineup).

LA gets big -- seriously big. Until Bynum comes back, Zach can take his place. Then, when he's back, Zach gives them another offensive option freeing up the perimiter for Kobe, Odom and Fisher.

Makes sense to me!

nets should do it. kidd would make sure randolph doesn't gay things up and randolph is a younger player who would come off the books before carter. also, the nets haven't had a front court player in a while.
Sam wasn't the solution, but he wasn't the problem either

to me it's a worthless trade because both teams are still gonna suck. But it'd be fun to see Carter get boo'd every home game as well. Then he would be the most boo'd player in NBA history.

Garbage in, garbage out.

But who provides the garbage for the longest time?

I remember how happy and proud Spike Lee was when they made that draft day trade for Randolph. It was a changing time for the Knicks!!!

Zach Randolph is actually in the same league as VC?

Is Randolph even considered a "superstar" as VC is labeled?

This trade proposal is laughable to almost every GM, except Rob Babcock.

Randolph in theory would be a good pickup, but the guy is a straight loser. He doesnt do anything to help his team win, hes more concerned with his own stats or yelling at his coach. They are both elite players with a lack of motivation and in Randolph's case a lack of brain power as well.

Randolph in a Raptor jersey would be interesting though. But the trade really didnt make sense for the Raptors at the time.
That's what she said.

someone plz go look at the thread"NYK might chase Carter" on the New Jersey Nets forum, its absolutely hilarious, NY and NJ fans arguing about Carter Vs Randolph, and their "all-star" play as of late

This would work for the nets considering that they need front court scoring since the nets don't have an inside presence. Not to mention they will finally have someone on the team that can out rebound Jason Kidd.

For the Knicks, it would mean that David Lee can become the starting powerforward. This allows Curry to dominate the paint since Lee does not demand the ball too often and just scrap for rebounds, something Curry doesn't do. With Randoloh gone, Curry may get out of his slump and can probably improve from last year. Now that MArbury is out, Carter can play the point as he did when Kidd was injured a while ago.

So in the end it may work for both teams
