Universial Trade Thread - but DON'T WANT TO TRADE WALLACE!!!
Since most of the other boards do this, lets just have one thread on possible trades the Bobcats can look at and for other team fans to post so it doesn't clutter up the main board. If the mods don't like it, then just lock or delete this thread and it won't ever be heard of again!
Here is my opinion on who is on the block, and you guys can put your input in and I'll change it if majority says so.
Untouchable:
Gerald Wallace
Jason Richardson
These guys are beginning to gel and its real nice, and its clear these two are the focus of the team right now. We aren't trading either of them, so don't offer. Any offer including one of these without Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Nash, Garnett, Yao, Bosh, Dwight, Amare, and so on coming back is worthless whether you believe it or not.
Players the Bobcats would prefer to keep, but would let go if offered more than face value:
Jared Dudley
Nazr Mohammad
Matt Carroll
You may be wondering why would want to keep these guys, but Carroll is the prototype shooter/offensive production a team would like off the bench, and Nazr is a solid rebounder and scorer who is also a big, which is a low commodity in the NBA. Duds is a rookie, but has shown enough in flashes to be a great 3/4 tweener as a starter or off the bench. Simply put, Dudley has real promise and is not any sort of filler to be included in trades.
Good players available for the right price:
Emeka Okafor
Raymond Felton
Both of these players help the Bobcats, so they aren't going to be traded just for the sake of being traded. But both are young and have put in the time to rely on as starters, and both have good qualities that other teams would covet. For Okafor, he is a great low post defender, a great rebounder, often top 5, and can get a fair share of blocks and steals for a big man. He is also an efficent scorer. The only knock on Okafor is his lack of intensity, or his "Julius Peppers" syndrome. A change of scenery could help or hinder him, and ditto for Felton, who gets assists in flashes and is able to guard most any PG in the league efficently. Both players can give you a solid 35-40 minutes a night.
The Phantom Menace:
Adam Morrison
Despite what you see on the stat sheets, Morrison is not filler and the Bobcats will not want to give him up so easily. Morrison showed great promise in preseason that he can be a scorer, so the Bobcats won't trade him for the sake of giving him up. He was only a rookie last season.
A bit better on filler, if you take the risk:
Sean May
May can be a starter in this league if he ever got in shape or stayed healthy. He is a great midrange shooter with a solid low post game and above average rebounder. He is filler, but I still don't think the Cats would trade him for the sake of trading him. Your choice.
You can have these players, no really, go ahead:
Jeff McInnis
Derek Anderson
Othella Harrington
Ryan Hollins
Jamereo Davidson
Trade filler, but a PG would be needing to come back if McInnis is the one thats going. The two rookies could be included in any deal, but the Bobcats would rather hold on to them if possible. Either way, these players don't matter that much to the Bobcats and these are the fillers you should put in trades (Harrington and Hollins are exp., McInnis is a team option I believe but has BYC status meaning he can nullify the trade (why the hell does McInnis have this option?))

I would do several of those Okafor trades I saw in the thread on the trade board.......
Okafor and filler for Tyrus Thomas, Noah, and 1st........wow I would be so elated with that package. Basically that would be trading Okafor for Tyrus Thomas, Noah, 1st round pick, and Antawn Jamison with the money we free up by not signing Okafor.
Felton
JRich
Wallace
Jamison
Noah
with Thomas, Nazr, Dudley, Morrison, May, our 1st rd pick, etc off the bench
I would also do a trade with Toronto.......Calderon and Bargs for Okafor

Player we shoul get rid of but it will be difficult to find a taker, so we end up keeping them but hopefully not resign them

Keep in mind that I in no way think that Bargnani is a capable replacement for Okafor, but by doing either of those deals it frees up the 12 million that can be spent on Jamison, our draft pick, and whoever we want to spend for in the summer.
But yeah, aside from the really homeristic fans, they seem ok with Calderon instead of Ford. I'm not sure Ford/Bargs is enough for Okafor, given Ford's health problems.

Noah/Thomas and a 1st for Okafor would be great value (possibly 3 lottery picks, are you kidding?), but I don't see how it helps us that much BESIDES the fact that we're addressing our lack of depth issue.
Nazr getting 25-30 mins and Thomas/Noah splitting the remaining 66 is a much better traditional big rotation, but I think Wallace is an effective 4, so not sure how I feel about it really.
Emeka for Calderon and a big guy that can space the floor would also be very good value, but we're adding offense for defense.

Noah can play the perimeter oriented PFs better than anyone we currently have and there's a possibility TT could eventually equal/surpass Mek's defense. Personally I don't see Chicago doing this, cuz like you said that's basically 3 lotto picks (the pick would be protected however) for Okafor. Instead of just Gordon & Deng they'd have 3 guys looking for a nice paycheck.
Giving up defense for offense would flat out kill us (Toronto trade). I think Calderon would be huge, but I'm not that big a fan of Bargs' game. Teams would murder us in the paint.

How about this trade:
Minnesota Outgoing
Minnesota 2009 1st (gonna be lotto) Ricky Rubio? B.J. Mullens?
Craig Smith= nba.com has him listed 6'8'' 270, scores 90% of his points in the paint, doesn't really have any jumper but has a floater he uses alot close to the basket, not very mobile on defense, could put up 17 and 8 type numbers with starter minutes.
Sebastian Telfair= bad reputation but hasn't had any issues in minnesota so far, probably one of the fastest guys in the nba with a yo-yo handle, can't finish or shoot worth anything, averaging about 10 and 6 assists right now.
Michael Doleac= Decent expiring contract.
Charlotte Outgoing
Emeka Oakafor

I guess that deal would be okay. We'd get a real backup pg, but I doubt we'd get rid of McInnis, so not sure how much picking up Bassy would mean. I've liked Craig Smith since BC and he and Dudley were formidable in college, but I don't really get why Minnesota would want to move him.
The 1st round pick would be the real motivation to do this deal.

I agree, these types of threads always become jumbled.
I can't see Chicago wanting Okafor when they have Ben Wallace clogging up their team and payroll.

I kinda like the one-thread idea (but no big deal; but if then as stickied one)
amcoolio - jsut a note - "two rookie" in last paragraph - Ryan is not a rookie anymore (although he is not further on his way than JerMareo is).
I don't see how Okafor - Noah/Thomas/pick trade can happen. Bulls have Deng and Gordon to re-sign and I would really want an immediate(experienced/proven/...) PF/C big man type in return. I don't want to risk a team chemistry with Noah, I don't think he will give us anything significant. Tyrus Thomas plays for money and noone knows what the pick will bring (and when).
I prefer Okafor - Gasol type trades (of course not straight up) when we will get something different in return, but a big body to play at C or to pair with Nazr. I would definitely keep Nazr to the end of this season to be flexible enough to make trades like that - especially if Emeka won't play well and will demand too much money. Having Nazr is a blessing - we have a player who currently isn't playing significantly worse than Emeka. so we could either force Emeka to sign cheaper contract or trade him dfor a fair price if needed.

I really like Calderon+Bargnani - Okafor trade. It would help us at pg - either we will have a strong depth at this positon or will have an alternative if Raymond won't be what we thought he can be once in the future. Adding young tall big man with range is pretty good, the only thing is that we should add someone to back up Nazr (it shouldn't be too difficult through draft 08). I remember that some of us were on Andrea's bandwagon before the draft thinking that in Wallace-Bargnani-Okafor frontcourt everyone would complement each other well.
Calderon/Felton
Richardson
Wallace
Bargnani
Mohammed
with Carroll, Morrison, Dudley, draft pick, Davidson, Hollins from bench and
with May, DA?, McMinus? on injury list
hopefully it would save us some money to make some moves.
