Both sides have spoken positively about coming to an agreement. So what if their stories aren't word-for-word identical? Smith's piece says things are happening, Ukic says he'll negotiate in the offseason.

Where's the issue here?

I don't think anyone's trying to make a "mountain" out of it. We're just trying to figure out what's going on with this team. Is ukic coming or isn't he, do we have his rights, is he part of our future, can we trade them before deadline, etc etc? Perfectly legitimate topic of conversation and speculation, no?

Sorry for the mountain comment. Not warranted.

But Smith's reported that the path is clear for a signing, Ukic has said he wants to explore it in the offseason, which is naturally when a signing would occur.

All in all, the stories may not jive 100% given the context of different media reports, but I'd say that these developments are both moving in a positive direction, aren't they?

They are positive, and Ukic would be a welcome addition to the roster.

he was drafted a couple of years ago when he was relatively young and not well known, and if I remember correctly a lot of draft boards had him projected higher than the raptors got him.

Return to Toronto Raptors
