Ric Bucher: Blazers looking to make a move?

Post#1 » by Dakotah612 » Sat Jan 19, 2008 1:32 am

During the 1st quarter Ric Bucher said the Blazers are looking to make a move at the deadline or at the draft to make room for Rudy Fernandez.

My guess would be Jarrett and/or Sergio could be dealt at the deadline.

My guess is hes guessing. Its logical that the
Blazers would make a move to free up a spot
for Rudy. But I doubt theres nothing more to it.

I dont think they are gonna make a move til the off season. They dont really need to make a change right now let the season play out and then see what happens is a much more logical move.

Good. F**k. If Pritchard wasn't looking to make a move I'd be damn disappointed in him.

This team needs to get better.

I would hope that was extreme sarcasm.

There's an ESPN insider article that talks about the ten teams
that figure to be active at the trade deadline and Portland is
one of them.

The rationale behind a trade is the number of players with
guaranteed contracts and the apparent arrivals of Oden
and Rudi for next season. I don't know valid the argument
is for JJ is playing too many minutes and is playing a combo
guard role but if Sergio is on the block, they might get a few
takers for there a bunch of teams looking for a PG.

I wouldn't mind the Blazers moving Jack, McRoberts, or green before the deadline but can't see that there's much of a chance that a deal happening before the offseason. If the Blazers trade sergio or Jack, they'd need a pg in return, so unless that happens, they'll wait for Rudy, then trade Jack. Aside from the three I listed, I don't think KP would trade the others unless he got a mind blowing offer and the other two (Raef and Miles) probably won't be traded at least this season.

I'm not saying he HAS to make a deal. I'm saying he has to be active.

Ric Bucher is also a total tool who fabricates things.

I don't think they need a PG in return unless they move both Sergio and Jack. Subtract either 1 and they've still got a PG platoon of Blake, Roy, and the guy they keep, plus Rudy handles the ball well for a shooting guard. The way Jack has been playing, he's a more than adequate backup point.

Okay that I agree with 8) I guess the part I didn't agree with is where you said "This team has to get better!" Cause from my perspective the team where it stands now anyway, has already improved from this point last year by almost a 50% mark... Now its just a matter of time until Mojo or someone comes in giving the actual statistics and correcting me on my bad memory, psh facts!

Again the way the blazers are playing why would you wanna mess with that. The argument for trimming the roster for the following season doesn't hold any water. Most of the players that are talked about dumping are either tiny contract or would be a buy out situation that might as well be handle at the end of the season.

Here's a move: Rodriguez to Seattle for Gelabale. Of course, we should also offer to swap picks with them, just to see if Petri is a sucker ;)

I'm thinking the 'conventional wisdom' around here that Jack will be traded and Sergio kept could be wrong.

Sergio really played poorly the last few games and has been jacking up some terrible shots. He's making no progress, and I think Jason Quick's hunch that sergio will be traded by the end of this summer (if not before) is a pretty good one. The Blazers will probably want to get Rudy under contract first...maybe.

Man Sergio is my second favorite player on the team, only behind Roy, but I think at this point trading him over Jack would almost make more sense. I wouldn't do it, but its scary to me to think that I would even put it out there as an option. Jack fills that hole that we need as a scoring guard on the second unit, he has actually been playing much better recently from what I have seen, although I haven't seen as many games as I would have liked as of late.

I like Jack's emotion and his intensity, I think its good for the team to have someone that gets excited and emotional, as Roy is always so stone faced. Thats not a dig on Roy so much as that I think its nice to have the counter balance, as everyone else on the team aside from maybe LMA and Channing is more or less like Roy and doesn't show much emotion.

I said or but I really mean and when I said Sergio and Jack. If the Blazers trade one of them, we're fine at PG but if they trade both, they'd obviously need a PG in return.

 ...nice. 'Shorts' involved 6 players and a 1st round pick. I don't think this would quite measure up....but I like your thinking. :P
