Seriously, Carter is due to make $16.4 M next season, but can opt out and become a free agent. Rumor has it that he wants to play in Florida, which makes the Magic a logical option. There were reports of the Nets asking for Darko Milicic, Trevor Ariza and Hedo Turkoglu, but the Magic didn

aside from the ole' MC
i welcome the inside source...just as long as you dont have peter vescey's inside source...
Lol thanks theif, I remember the infamous MC as well. And no my source isn't Vecsey as I preside in sunny central Florida, close to the situation, the problem with having an inside source is protecting there identity. But I know for a fact they don't read message boards and problem don't have the time to, as well with the timing that mttingly2391 has shed some light makes things alot easier.

That's exactly what happened at the 2005 Draft... now things change over time so we will see if Fran changes his mind. But Fran's only intention was better his draft status which in turn "means he has more potential" which means "a team in Spain will pay more to keep their own" blah blah. You guys get the idea

What do you mean don't forget Otis scouts Jameer more than anyone?
Battie is not better than all the guys I named. And why is everyone saying that Hill was on his way out when the drafted JJ. Give me a break. He was not. Not only that but they started 13-4. Hill was not on his way out until the team started losing. That is false information.
That is not really true about May, but he is injured now. How can someone say Fran's skills were better than D. Lee on draft day. Fran never did anything on any level. He was just picked based on potential.
Mehectorgato: You are right that nobody checked with the mrs. for Fran. But trust me, my sources are as close you can get to the situation.
Did you ever see that Magic Behind the Scenes program they produced on Sun Sports back in 2004? It was broadcast the summer after the Magic drafted Dwight and Jameer and before the Magic ever played a game that fall. They made it quite clear on that show -- from footage that was shot live during that summer, during the draft process, etc. -- that if Otis and Twardzik had not pushed Weisbrod to draft Dwight, Weisbrod would have drafted Okafor.
Darko is looking more like a bust every day -- at the very least someone who is having a very difficult time staying healthy.
And Sean May has been injured all but maybe 30 games of his NBA career so far, and he's close to the end of his rookie contract. Having him or drafting Fran would have made little difference, except that he would have been around on the bench every day to remind us that he could not play and sucking up a roster spot. They would have seen about the same amount of court time so far. I did hate the Fran pick, by the way, but from what Brian Hill had said, I thought the ex-coach was the guy who was friends with Fran's coach in Spain and said he was told that he wanted to come play in the NBA.

And about that whole trading for Jason Kidd thing. Sileo was just copying what some caller named Bernie had asked him about earlier in the morning. He didn't say anything about filler. He said trade Hedo and Jameer for Kidd. Which is great. Except Jameer's not even making $2 million this season so if you add that to Hedo's $7 million, you've got $9 million in contracts and Jason Kidd is making $20 million. Neither Sileo nor his caller could account for that -- or even seemed to know that the salaries had to come close to matching -- and they would have to move quite a few other salaries to "fill'' that gap and make it work under the salary cap. Otis just was polite enough not to call them both total idiots.

Awesome logic.
Because I don't assume that keeping Jameer will cause us to have 10 years of sub-.500 play, that means that I must assume that keeping Jameer will cause us to contend for 10 years.
Of course.
Not to mention that's he's only under contract for 5 more years as of now. But no point in not going so far out of the way to prove your point that you make it just looks dumb. (Not you, Devin....The people you are replying to.)

I guarantee we wouldve still got Rashard.
Oh really? Because the news reports at the time -- some of which suggested they came from Darko's agent -- said he was demanding $10 million a year. And that is a third again as much as he ended up signing for in Memphis -- and he hasn't performed for them at a $7 million a year level either.
