Glad Powe is in the mix again. I was looking like an idiot for suggesting that Powe might beat out big baby for minutes but he did show us something..tonight.

Still I don't know if he beats out BBD now. BBD has shown us alot. And make no mistake that's the battle for minutes. It's either BBD or Powe - especially with Pollard around. I wonder why Pollard didn't play?

I just watched a video from Boston Globe's website where Doc Rivers answered a reporter's question on Pollard's status (Thank you, Mr. Reporter, for asking).

Doc said that he has been giving Pollard's ankle as much rest as he can.
Doc also said that he expected to use Scot Pollard in Monday's Knicks game (matching up against Eddie Curry).

I also think that Doc can selectively choose between Glen Davis and Powe.

Powe seems a little quicker, a better help defender, and more active getting into position for rebounds.

Davis has more of a finesse game on offense, and is harder to move once he establishes position.

It's just a matter of the particular needs on a given night, IMO.

I was in the same camp. I will say, though, that it's tough to play Baby and Powe together. If my recollection is accurate, the offense sputtered for a stretch when Doc employed this strategy. Baby, IMO, isn't ready to have the offense run through him as the PF yet. But while I like Leon in the same defense/rebounding/putback role that Perkins has, Baby's offensive versatility was needed for a stretch and may still be a factor in continuing to give him the tap over the other brute guys at the position. So, despite this performance, I have ceded the argument and agree the Baby is the guy and Leon should be used sporadically for now.

Both Perk and Powe basically need to have KG out there with them. Baby can get by as the lone big man in a smallball unit or paired with Scal, as he is the most creative of the three (Perk/Powe/Baby) in getting his shots. I appreciate this circumstance now that I've seen how the roster works in reality rather than just conceptually.

Powe has more hops and longer arms. He is more scrappy. He plays on pure instinct. You can just tell he has no clue about defensive schemes he just knows how to ball.

Big baby on the other hand has a much higher bball IQ and will hit an open person by making a nice no look.

Powe has tunnel vision he only see's the rim. I dont think I have ever seen powe pass the rock except for out of bounds. Its not such a bad thing I guess you have to have that confidence but at the same time it could be a little too much at times. I think it may be bc he is still trying to prove he belongs in this league.

That's was fun to watch last night I was so happy for that guy...tough as nails. Sometimes it pisses me off that we have no enforcers out there.

It's probably been said before (probably even in this thread), but Powe seems like our big man's version of Tony Allen.

Didn't he (Powe) have no clue about our plays last year? If that's true, I'm probably not giving Tony enough credit in the "understanding how a team runs" department...but I think it's close.

I think one justificatino to play Powe more is that we are one of the lesser offensive rebounding teams in the league. I know this is in part by design i.e getting back on defense, but still I'm of the school that offensive rebaounding is one of the most important team statistics in the game and we could be a little better.

I think we have noticed that we are building fewer and fewer comfortable leads recently and I think that can be partially attributed to the idea that we are deliberately not trying that hard to create extra possesions via o-boards and steals.

Powe > Scal (28% from 3) +(32% fg)
