This is one of those games that you'd like to just say: "Hey, Baron Davis had a great game. So did Monta. And the refs kinda screwed us. Free throws kinda hurt us too."
Thats the rational way to look at this game as an isolated happening. But when it drops you back down to 8 games under .500 with Detroit on a bus to Chicago, its hard to be rational. So here's my real reaction:
What the **** is Jim Boylan doing out there? What the **** hell? Zone? **** zone? It worked for awhile. Great gimmick. Kudos. I really mean that. We should go zone for stretches more often.
But to RIDE the **** zone? Against Golden State? AFTER they figure it out? AFTER they start absolutely raining threes down on us like its unseasonably humid in April? Why? For the love of God WHY? Why do that when its so **** stupid to do that? Jim, don't do that. Why did you do that?
Jim? Duhon? 35 minutes? On Baron Davis? In the third quarter? Instead of Thabo? Who was absulutely **** awesome defensively? Who Jeff Van Gundy was absolutely gushing about his man defense on Davis? And you sit him while Duhon is getting abused? What the **** hell, man? What the **** are you doing? Why did you do that? Don't do that when its stupid to do that. Be smart, not stupid. Just don't do stuff like that. Just don't do it.
And Jim. Doing an offensive/defensive switch with Thabo/Gordon at the end of the game while leaving Du in the whole **** time? Dude. Seriously. What the **** are you doing? I mean WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING? Why did you do that when its so stupid to do that?
I really like our team. I like a lot of our players. I really do. I don't think any less of the ceiling of this team's young talent than I did before they started playing the games. But this season is just so trying on the fans. Look, I realize some guys have struggled. Its tough. BUT PLEASE, FOR LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY, PLAY THE RIGHT **** PLAYERS IN THE RIGHT **** SITUATIONS TO MAXIMIZE THIS TEAM'S CHANCES TO WIN AND DEVELOP. What the hell are you doing out there with the coaching and the decisions and the stuff that involves that stuff?
Please. Just start doing the right thing. It shouldn't be that hard.

Last offensive play for GS-
Nelly "Ok guys, this is just too easy. Baron just drive to the hoop, 4 guys will instantly collapse on you. Pass it to whoever you want for an open 3. We win the game."
Doylan " Ok guys, just play hard D. Help side, double team, cheat off the shooters & guard the lane - all that stuff we teach you. Make them hit an open 3 to beat us."

Coaching cost the game:
3 big things:
(1) Not going away from the zone when Golden State adapted to it. You can switch back and forth, Coach. Sometimes it makes the other team struggle to keep it's rhythm.
(2) Not switching Duhon out (or at least onto Ellis) when Baron was going off. Again, coach, break the other guy's rhythm.
(3) Not taking advantage of a size advantage. This is the dumbest thing from this game. Noah, Tyrus, even Joe Smith are fast enough to hang with Al Harrington. Heck, Noah and Tyrus can also hang with Barnes. But instead of taking advantage of a size advantage - using these 3 guys at the 4 with Gray at C so we could slow down the game with some post offense, we went small all night with Noc at the 4. Or even keep Joe Smith at C with Noah for more than a minute or two.
We PASSED on a size advantage!!!! We lost on the boards. Hmmm???
I understand Noc played very well, but you can move him to the 3 and take Deng out for a bit to get him some rest. Heck, when they are making a run, you can TRY it!

It's sad, I don't even really get upset anymore, just numb to it.
What's been said pretty much covers it - FT's, refs weren't the greatest (we should've overcome it), horrible decision making by the coach. Horrible. The guys played well enough to win, but Boylan stole the game away from them.
I'm sorry, I actually like Duhon and I think most of the board does...but he is a BACKUP coach!!! A BACKUP!!! I'm hoping and praying and chanting and casting spells and doing whatever so that we get a NEW coach next year. This whole mother-**** regime of Skiles/Boylan/Myers/Adams is just in love with Duhon and it's not ever going to end until the regime is completely gone.
What's worse is that when Kirk comes back it's gonna be bye bye Thabo...or less minutes for BG and/or Kirk. Davis was hot, but c'mon! The 3's were nothing special...it was just trot up to the line and let it fly with no regard to human shot selection. If we actually decided to step out and guard the guy w/o using a midget, it woulda really helped coach. The 3's got him fired up and his whole game going and then Baron was on and not going to be stopped. Nice job sitting back in the lounge chair and letting it happen Jimmy boy.
Good game by Noc, thank goodness his shot was on. Though I detest Wallace, I don't get that when he actually shows a pulse and matches up well against a team, then his minutes are limited. The next 20 games where he's a bad matchup and sucking, he'll play 39mpg.
I'm a big Tyrus supporter too, but use you're brain kid. You can't just jump on people's backs for the rebound. Due to that, I can't complain that he sat really, but I do think they could've tried him to stop the layup line that was happening.
I was hating on Monta so bad last night. I'm glad I didn't post til this morning because it was undeserved. I was just peaved that he was schooling us. He's a fine young player, I really like how he's always on attack mode. One thing I will say, a lot of those and-1's were bull crap. It's sorta the opposite of a younger Shaq...he wouldn't get calls when he was actually fouled just because he's so big. Monta seems to get a few calls that aren't really fouls just because he's small. Kudos to him for being a smart player, taking advantage of it and throwing himself in there though. Body control and attacking aggressively...he's got it/does it, Davis too. Kirk and BG...nope..timid and flailing. That's why they don't get the calls.

Having a good bench is important, but if the starters are getting blown out by the other team's starters, does it really matter how well the bench is playing?
Chicago Bulls, 2006-07
PPG from Starting Lineup 67.7
Opp. PPG from Starting Lineup 67.5
PPG Diff. + 0.2
PPG off Bench 31.1
Opp PPG off Bench 26.3
PPG + 4.8
So last season, the starters held their own against opponents' starting lineups and the bench outscored opponents' reserves by a decent margin
Chicago Bulls, 2007-08
PPG from Starting Lineup 58.8
Opp PPG from Starting Lineup 69.7
PPG Diff. - 10.9
PPG off Bench 36.3
Opp PPG off Bench 28.6
PPG Diff. + 7.7
So the starting unit has gone from holding their own against opposing teams' starters last year to getting outscored by 11 PPG this season. That's mainly because of Chicago's own offensive struggles -- as you can see, they are only allowing about 2 more PPG to team's starters than they did last season. But their own starters' scoring has dropped off by nearly 10 PPG from last year.
Meanwhile the bench is still outproducing opponents' rserves by a good margin. But until/unless they find a starting unit that can go back to being at least relatively equal to their opponents, it won't really matter what they get out of the reserves (at least it won't matter in terms of wins and losses)

Refs screwed with the Bulls? Come on now.
As long as Luol Deng channels AI2, and you're a tiny perimeter team that isn't uptempo, what advantage do you have?

Stupid coaching Boylan was surely the biggest game-breaker.
1. Subbing Gordon out for Thabo to keep Duhon in the final minutes? Insanity.
2. I almost feel like giving him a high-five for giving Noah and Sefolosha significant minutes, but then I remember that Hinrich is injured and any human being in charge would have opted to not play Wallace, unless Britney Spears was coaching.
3. Almost comically riding the zone when GS started raining threes.

That's the way it is with GSW. No lead is safe, no deficit is insurmountable.

You can't decide whether or not to play a guy based on two or even six minutes. Players need at least 12 or 15 minutes before you can decide whether they have "it" on a given night IMO. That's the huge problems with the rotations/front court log jam. Also, that wasn't an awful, textbook over the back foul that clearly shouldn't have been attempted: Tyrus ran in for the rebound and his momentum carried him into a GS player.

I agree. Tyrus gets jerked around in this line-up more than anyone. Like a couple weeks ago, when Boylan openly criticized Ty for not playing closer to the basket, and the next game he got all his minutes at SF. Tyrus, like everyone else with erratic minutes, tries too hard while he's on the floor now. His confidence looks shaken, too.
Despite all of this, he's still our 6th leading scorer and second leading shot blocker in 15.8 minutes a game.

This was the first game I've seen in over a month. From my perspective, the Bulls seem to have continued their decline in my and Skiles absence.
Getting outrebounded at home by a poor rebounding team. Wallace looks worse and worse. Noah got shoved into the baseline so many times, so easily. The kid needs to learn how to hold his position and keep guards out of his grasp (elbows anyone?).
Letting an opponent score 119 points. The Bulls looked slow and/or confused in their rotations in man-man defense. The passive 2-3 zone was doomed as soon as GS shooters started hitting the 3s it gave away. Rotating Noah from under the basket to cover open corner shooters? Gimme a break. He's quick, but not that quick.
Time to sit Wallace down and let the kids learn how to play. This season is shot.

To be fair GS are ranked second in the league when it comes to scoring with an average of 108.8 PPG. Not that it's any excuse for the bulls defensive efforts, it's just not that bad considering it's the Golden State Warriors. They will score in the 100's.
Like I said though, it's no excuse, we were stuck in the zone far too long and Duhon on Davis for as long as he was guarding him wasn't good.

i was at the game and i felt like such a debbie downer. While everyone was excited during the bulls double digit lead i just knew that the eventual golden state 3 pt parade was coming led by their ringleader baron.
When the game was tied going into the 4th..did anyone really think we had a chance? like really? We have pulled out "gutsy performances" all of 6 times this year...against the pistons twice, the wizards once, and the bobcats twice lmao. Oh and sacramento minus bibby artest martin rahim. Other than that, the 4th quarter is our time to choke. We'll get everyones hope up but no one has the nuts on this team to get it done.
There was one point where i thought the bulls could do it. When the bulls were up by 5 i believe and noah had that amazing rebound he took from biedrins and got fouled. He yelled and everyone was pumped including myself. Then he missed the 2 free throws which pretty much summed up our season...false hope. Even deng couldn't shoot better than 1/2 every time he went to the line.
This team is close..i really think that. It's better offensively under boylan. However this team as it is has absolutely no chance of doing anything substantial. We cannot win close games and it's no coincidence either..the more crunch time it gets..the more our offense freezes, and the more you see gordon trying to iso. The bulls stop doing what got them leads and try to act as if they can give it one of our players and watch them baron davis us to victory...
i'm going to the detroit game today and it's so sad to think how excited i was for it before the season to how not excited i am now..
