:P. seriously, thats a bad habit. nash looks worse when he does it, but come on jose! that must be why!

:)

That's really disgusting :-?, but there are a lot of players who do that. Bosh also does sometiems when he shoots FT

don't worry bud, the NBA has rules that have to be followed as well.

it was a frustration move for sure, calderon was dealing his case all night, it's only cus calderon doesn't get the respecct he deserves yet. Things will change soon.

He is right, the intent is important. When you sign up to play a sport, you are allowing for certain sorts of physical contact.

That doesn't mean that you allow that someone can run up to you and punch you in the face. That can be construed as assault, whether it happens on a basketball court, or in the stands, or in a park.

Part of the reason professional sports get a pass on this sort of thing is that they police the games themselves. They can allow the sort of contact that is incidental to the game but it it looks like they are leaving their players vulnerable to guys just slugging them, a court may decide to wade in at some point.

No doubt Johnson deserved an ejection, but in no way was the elbow as bad as Swirsky made it out to be.

Good call by Grillo to eject Johnson an send a message to the Hawks to keep it clean. However, I think he was being over-cautious because of the earlier 'blow to the head' against TJ.

The Refs judgement is ofton varying on the fact it may of been out of frustration because there down or a previous play down the floor.

As Smitch would said it "Fcuk You" :) to the refs consisitancy

intent to injure really? how bout intent to just piss someone off.
i still don't see why its that big of a deal. calderon looked fine after.

i think people are making a big deal out of it. to each his own i guess. i'm not the one getting suspended.

It is a moot point what the actual intent is and to decide what the intent actually was for certain is difficult at any rate, in so many cases. It was not a move sanctioned by the rules of the game and its intent was outside the rules of good defensive play. Was he trying to set a pick , or maintain his position? I don't think so. Therefore, it is against the rules. And it is up to the league to decide how it punish the offence or whether to at all.

But let us imagine for a minute that nothing is done and in their next game a third offence (at least in th eyes of the Raptors) occurs. Let us say one of the Raptor players responds and a fracus occurs. It would be quite easy to say that the league had been negligent in letting it all get out of hand. Sometimes where people feel justice is not served, vigilante justice may take its place.

Coming down hard on these sort of infractions is never a bad idea.

In reality I do not care. I am certain that this action helped motivate the Raps and get them to the right place in the game.

Just my 3 cents.

That was a dirty ass play... glad the refs caught it and didn't put up with that crap on the floor.

The vid clearly shows him striking the back of Jose's head... and like other posters said, the intent was definitely there.

I do wonder what it was over though... Jose was seen explaining something to Joe Johnson afterwards too.

Imagine Johnson did that to T.J. instead? Oh man. lol

Suspend him, don't suspend him, who gives a crap? Its Anthony freakin' Johnson for crying out loud.

He hit him, it was a cheap shot, and most importantly, he got caught. He gets what he gets from the commish and that should be it.

I agree that Chuck went ballistic over it more than it deserved but when is that not the case. If you were asking my opinion, it should be no more than the suspension Odom got for taking out Ray Allen.

This is why we need an enforcer on this team, to stop stupid sh*t like this happening to us. Bring in Oakley and let him train Joey. Might as well make some us of Graham while we have him.
