I'd take AI now knowing that it is Bosh's team. It was a different circumstance back then

And I will say this......any player that needs another player to get them the ball is not a pg. PGs get people the ball, not the other way around where they need other people to get them the ball.

- Portlant has Rodriquez, Jack, Blake running the point over Roy.
- Denver has Chucky Atkins and Anthony Carter Running the point over Iverson.
- Miami has Williams, Chris Quinn, Cook, Smush Parker (LOL!) running the point over Wade.

That is because they are even better gifted scorers than they are point guards. But that doesnt mean they arent better Point Guards than all the players you listed who are playing point guard "OVER" them.

Calderon's play will suffer a lot if he decides to go to another team.

He relies on Bosh to set screens almost every play so he can either pass or shoot the ball.

It really depends on how well TJ plays when he comes back. If TJ has problems recovering, we'll need to spend that extra money to keep Calderon.

Well, Iverson is making 20+ mil, and since Forderon is going to potentially make 15-17 mil together.

It is Forderon vs Iverson...........

If it is just 1 of Ford or Calderon vs Iverson, it's a no brainer. But with Forderon, you might reconsider....But then again, with Ford's healthy issues, Ford just brought down the value of Forderon.

It's not about whether they are better than those players or not. It's about the fact that they need others to get them the ball. It doesn't make sense for a PG to rely on the SG or SF to get them the ball. A PG gets people the ball, not the other way around. Those guys are moved over to sg because they are better receivers than passers.

Maybe but a lineup with AI now is better than a lineup with either TJ or Jose IMO. Forderon is fine and good but AI makes us a bonifide contender.

Yes, they are better receivers than passers.

But they are 10/10 scorers and still 8.5/10 pgs.... while, for example, I feel Jose is an 8/10 pg.

Just because they are some of the most gifted scorers in the League (better receivers than passers), doesnt mean they arent also very good Point Guards and still better than 20 NBA teams starting PGs if they need to play that position, just because they are top 5 SGs in the league doesnt void their PG abilities.

If they needed to play that position for a team where it would make sence to play them at PG, I still feel they are top 10 at the job.

daswunderboy wrote:The whole "top point guards only look to pass" is BS. Guys like Nash look to take over games with their scoring all the time in the fourth quarter. So does Paul. And Magic before them. Same with Thomas (who we forget was one of the greatest PG's because of his crappy team building in NY, but he was great).

I think it's a misconception that the top PGs don't look for their own shot. The most effective PGs look to get the ball in the hands of the man who gives his team the best chance to score. Sometimes, that's the PG.

Come on, is Bosh so special at setting screens? For that matter, is the pick and roll the best offense for Jose? Maybe he goes to LA and Phil gets him to work the triangle and that works out better for him. The guy can shoot. There are so many offensive sets that would make him effective.

I can't believe that people think JC will get less than Kapano.

Return to Toronto Raptors
