joe smith offers?

Post#1 » by dflaschberger » Sat Jan 19, 2008 10:21 pm

If the bulls still suck in a month and it looks like our ceiling is a 7th or 8th seed, we might offer Joe Smith around. Here's what you get

-great shooting 4 (perfect for pick n roll)
-solid D
-can still run
-great locker room guy
-reasonable, short deal

He could be the piece for any # of teams. I see interest from most contenders

So, what offers might come in? We want an expiring and a pick or young prospect.

A little over a year ago he cost the Nugget Ruben Patterson who had an expiring, I would not expect much more then that this year.

MIN offers three future Top-20 protected 1sts, as long as we can do the deal under the table.

Your choice of expirings from the Magic, and a complimentary 2nd rounder.

No, but I saw him play in 1974, and he looked pretty good.

How about J-Will for Smith & Duhon?
Or J-Will for Smith & expiring filler?

The Heat helps the Bulls to dump his contract, and sign Deng & Gordon for a big contract without exceeding the tax. Duhon is just a filler in this trade because he will get a better offers to teams this summer and I doubt the Bulls will resign him considering Deng & Gordon are due for a big contract.

Personally I don't see many scenarios under which we would trade Smith. I'm one of the biggest sell high buy low guys there is, but when there is almost no long term risk to just keep the player, theres not much reason to make a trade.

Bulls shouldn't trade Smith.

Chicago isn't looking to dump Joe Smith. Unlike Ben Wallace, the team can just sit Joe Smith if they want. I completely understand why people would not want to give a lot for him, but he has been nice for Chicago and would be nice trade filler if a good opportunity came up.

Sasha, Mihm, AND a second rounder won't get it done IMO.

Lakers won't take Noc because of the contract length. According to Sky, they're aiming for space in 2010-2011 should they need to replace Kobe or in the event they have a shot at LBJ.

What about Etan Thomas and our Future 1st we have from Memphis for Joe. Ive always wanted Joe Smith on the Wizards... he'd be a fantastic addition.

still-no takers. Etan thomas has 3 years left. We want expiring and a first or we keep him. Of course, not a top pick, but something. He's playing great and could push any team over the top in the very tight west
