You don't have to feel bad for the Lakers, but you should feel bad for Bynum. He seems like a good young kid and he was really coming into his own. Hopefully two months off with a kneecap injury wont deter him any.

I despise the lakers first and formost but I was able to catch their last nation TV game the other day and was really impressed with Bynum.

If there was ever any question of how well Bynum was playing so far this season (and how much Kobe needs a good big man to be competitive), the first game without Bynum has the Lakers losing to the Sonics (!!!) through three quarters.

Of course, this could mean the unthinkable--the Lakers in the draft lotto and picking up more young talent. I would much rather them be a .500 team and lose in the first round of the playoffs for eternity.

I don't believe there is much chance of that. Their young players are steadily improving, and Kobe isn't old.

Bynum has quite the potty mouth :D

I love Bynums game, and am really looking forward to Oden matching up on him... but I'm glad we got the classy guy in GO. Oden-Bynum-Howard is going to be EPIC. It's going to be Lakers/Blazers in the WCF and then whoever wins will get to play against Howard and the Magic.

^^Don't count Utah out. No matter how many times I think they're going to be terrible, they go deep in the playoffs. It drives me absolutely batty since they are the team I despite the most after the Lakers.

Go dream in my crazy thread please.

Even if your dreams are predictable dreams of Rudy and Sergio and Jack being on another team. Go ahead. I like everything.

I despite them the most too after Lakers. I still hate them for Stokcton/Malone and those two are long gone. Sloan sucks, so that's something.

Yes I think it's unanimous that Blazer fans despise the Lakers, then Jazz more than anyone. The third team I despise is the Nuggets. I absolutely cannot stand that team. They're a bunch of thugs.

Not to turn this into a hate fest though... I respect fans of all teams...just as I would expect respect back. :)

Good lord, the West is ridiculously competitive this year. 4 outta 5 teams in the SW division have over 20 wins. Then there's the 3 team race we're currently in with Denver and Utah for #1 in the NW division. Then you got the Pacific division, where 3 teams are over 20 wins and the Kings are slowly starting to sneak back up into respectability as well. The Kings have 15 wins and are getting Bibby and Artest back very soon, considering all the injuries they've had this year, they have done a great job getting through that tough patch.

To think that 10 teams are over .500 in the West and barely 6 over .500 out East (Cleveland is only 1 game over)... It's pretty mind-boggling when you start comparing the 2 conferences. If the Blazers were in the East, we'd currently have the 3rd best record right behind Boston and Detroit. Once you get past those 2 (3 when Orlando is rolling) top teams, the rest of the East is just so weak, it's not even funny.

Who was it that was recently quoted as saying watching Eastern Conference matchups compared to watching games in the West was junior varsity high school to NCAA division 1?

That's scary. I sure hope he can come back from this and that it hasn't metastesized.

On a lighter note, if he comes back and dominates like Lance Armstrong we're in trouble....

Sucks we lost the game tonight, but I think we can all agree that this picture is hilarious....

And apparently Zach, in front of all his teammates in the lockerroom, begged Isiah Thomas to trade him.

Some interesting rumors flying around the NBA today, particularly involving old Blazer players...

*Damon is nearing a buyout from the Grizzlies. Word is that he'll either join the Celtics or the Suns. If I were Damon, I'd go for the Celtics. He'll get some minutes there. The Suns on the other hand barely play anyone. Outside of Hill, most vets that join the Suns hardly ever see any playing time.

*Sounds like Zach to the Bucks isn't completely dead yet. There's still a chance that NY pulls off the deal sending him to Milwaukee for Charlie V, Gadz and Simmons. That would be hilarious if that deal actually goes through, because that's more/less equal to what he sent out for Randolph. Charlie V and Frye are pretty much equal, two players who had great Rookie seasons and have struggled ever since. Then Francis is basically equal to Gadz and Simmons, the only difference is that Gadz and Simmons contract's are both longer than what Francis was signed too. So regardless, if the Knicks do this deal, they're basically paying more to undo the Zach trade.

It's really amazing Isiah has a job. How many of us, just as fans of the game, knew that the Zach/Curry combo would be an utter failure? At the very least, I'd say everyone was fairly skeptical about the whole thing. But those Knickerbockers love their stats, and Zach can put them up with the best of them.

*Is anyone else kinda surprised that the Sonics are in so many trade discussions right now? I thought for sure they'd keep following us into the 09 offseason, but it looks like they may be trying to make their move this summer. Word is that a potential MIA/SEA deal is in the works with Wally and Watson going to Miami for Williams, Davis and Wright. If that deal goes through, that'll give the Sonics some serious scratch to try and lure a guy like Arenas this summer.

Yep. It's from when the Heat got blown out by the Bulls a few nights back.

No kidding. I know people like to say "The Spurs don't care about the regular season." But they are looking really awful so far.
