but it's impossible to really become a great team when you rebound so poorly and play bad defense.

The Raps have the 12th most efficient D in the league.

http://www.knickerblogger.net/stats/2008/d_reb4.htm
The Raps are the 8th best defensive rebounding team in the league.

http://www.knickerblogger.net/stats/2008/d_ft4.htm
The Raps are the 6th best team in the league at limiting FT's per FG.

They are 25th in the league on the offensive glass, but they have some pretty good company in the 20's there.

They have the 10th most efficient offense in the league.

I think too many people throw out the standard Phoenix east/poor defending/poor rebounding lines without looking at the numbers that closely.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Great post. You dispell some of the myth that we are just plain terrible at rebounding. Sure we need to imporove and get some help but I think it's not as dire as some people think.

i wanted to see dixon run over to the hawks bench, pull out his wang, and pee on their shoes.

then have to watch mop girl clean it up.

I agree that the "hockey mentality" isn't the right way to go, and I don't expect, nor want, them to go out there and start throwing punches. But, it wouldn't hurt for a player or two to step up and just let them know you're there, maybe get in their face a bit. There would be no real harm, at most a technical. As long as they don't get thrown out, I enjoy when a player steps up for their teammate and gets in the opponents face or something after they make a dirty play.

I dont really agree with the OP but i do agree with the thread that just got locked.

I never really thought of it, but the softness (i.e not really doing anything to Johnson) will hurt us. (I dont mean phsycially just start jawing at the guys, i remember when terry went after Joey - Mike James went after terry, kept jawing at him all game)

In the post season its all about grit, and toughness, we saw what happened to Bosh last year. We need that, im not saying go rip someones head off but dont take crap, they push u, you push back. (NOT PUNCH BACK). Its really surprising that are team is like this with a coach like Sam, he is always saying how a player stepped on his mouth and knocked a tooth out and didnt even look back, how when setting the his teamate elbowed malone in the groin. That old grit, we need some of that.
What tha' There's a hair on the court,
O, Thats gotta go,
Messing up with my dribbling, injure myself
Excuusssseee Me!
Ball, Game on Son!

i'll take team toughness for this squad of individual softies...and in regards to aj elbowing jose in the head, there should have at least been a scuffle or some trash talk or some teeth grittin and minor brouhaha SOMETHIN.anything....our squad is slightly overcooked cream puffs.

I think what the OP is saying is that whether or not the Raps reacted, it's a FACT that the Raptors are a very soft team and most likely wouldn't.

/end thread.

I don't watch them for the skill on the court. I watch them for their juvenile antics where every single thing that happens on the court is an affront to their manhood that must be responded to by decking someone.

That and Smitch better start yelling "Gats, I want more gats" instead of shats.

This made me laugh.

Hard.

Well done.

Amusing yes, but your sig is much too large.

Remove it please.
