you can't honestly quantify what Artest has done vs. Jackson/Sheed. I think there are better options and better fits out there than bringing in a guy that could possibly upset the balance of this cohesive team

In all fairness, I think upsetting the balance of a 21-19 team should be the least of our worries. I'm not saying I want Artest, just keeping things in perspective.

Trilogy, you're spot on. (I might even try for a scoring centre too though.) Check the thread in the OTC board though, eh? People are forgetting it exists. :-?

Pfft, we're 22-19.

Yea, I just remember about that now. I don't venture to the OTC board too often.

I wouldn't be against Artest, but I doubt it happens. Also, it's pretty risky because he seems pretty intent on playing in NY.

The 3rd PG issue is a short term issue that we will probably address in the near future while the other 2 are more long term issues that I think we'll wait on.

In terms of the Big man problem, a guy I'd really like to get is Jeff Foster. Hopefully if Indiana keeps sliding after their promising start, they might want to shake things up. He'd be a great fit here. Only has 1 year left on his contract which is great too.

I would be a hoping for a deal like Hump + Kapono for Foster + S. Williams. Of course, S. Will ain't just a throw in to the deal, but that would be somewhere to start negotiations. Maybe adding our 1st, taking out Williams for another player on their Roster. Kapono would be a great fit for Obie's system.

Another team we should look at for the wing problem is Sacramento. It seems when the entire team is healthy, John Salmons really struggles to find his role on the team. The little hitch in trying to get him is that if Artest leaves, it alleviates alot of the logjam in the backcourt even if Salmons is probably a better 2 than 3. Garcia would also be someone to look at.

These are ideas of course, if we're looking to make a move now, which I highly doubt. I think Bryan is going to make a small manuever to grab a 3rd PG and then wait till the offseason to make his move to fix these problems.

To me, In an era where the emphasis is on scoring and scoring in buckets, Artest is a straight throwback, a guy who prides himself on putting the clamps on ANYONE. And guess what, he

basically what others said, get tj back and ab has to step up. the return of those 2 would be like a midseason deal.

I agree with that but Chris Bosh also needs to step up his game to the level of play he's recently been playing at. If all these happen the Raptors will be fine.

1. TJ - he would really add a spark to the offense, which really has become predictable since he's been out

2. Garbo - needed back healthy and return to form

3. Bargnani - needs to find his game

We need a guy like Artest to give hard fouls and get into the other teams face/lock down on their hot shooters. We have NO ONE like that on our squad and until we get a guy like that and a true centre we will never ever get out of the first round. I guarantee it

What this team needs- A Center that is CAPABLE of playing the Center position and doing things a Center is supposed to do. You know, rebound/Defend.

I think we have one in Rasho who we are under utilizing right now IMO. Perhaps its to get Humps and Bargs more minutes for whatever reason. I think Rasho is in the best shape in a long time and could handle some extended minutes.

As far as getting a centre for the long term, that will definitely require trading one of our core assets (Bargs or Calderon) or hopefully finding a gem through draft or free agency.

As of right now, I think to address that issue, it would be wise to go the latter route. Finding a player at the MLE and hopefully finding a gem at 18-20 range in the draft would likely address all the issues we're discussing right now, however patience is required for this.

The way I see it is:

Draft: Pick up a solid big man, hopefully he turns into a starting calibre centre

MLE: Pick up the best possible talent/asset so we can either trade this player or afford to trade another player on our roster under contract (e.g Kapono, Humps) along with a core player (Bargs or Calderon) or expiring contract (Rasho) for a star wing player.

Back up PG: Hopefully Roko comes over next season and addresses this issue.

All in all, I think these issues can most easily be addressed in the summer of '08.

They need TJ back and Bargs to play up to his abilities.
