Jack is the guy the Magic need. He is big and defends. Telfair and Sergio aren't and don't. No dice on Telfair or Sergio.

+1. We don't need Telfair. He's just like Arroyo.

Besides, the Blazers should do the 1st deal. A chance to get rid of Miles? It's worth giving up Jack and Frye for.

I tend to agree, and I like the first deal as well. Remember that even if Darius Miles is healthy enough to play, the Magic still have to pay him $9 mil a year to ride the bench behind Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu. It would seem to me he would have to have more value elsewhere, but I really can't think of anyone who'd make a deal for him using expirings.

I would assume Orlando would immediately release him, but we were high on him when he was in the draft so maybe we would keep him around.

Its not worth the price though.. Miles is doing no harm.. Hes back and practicing with the team, hes not a distraction, and hes getting back to his old form. He has his explosiveness back and has matured quite a lot since his blow up with Cheeks. He had a kid, is married, and hasnt been a problem in a long time. Theres no reason to pawn off 2 of our rotation players, 1 of them being a crunch time player, just to get rid of miles

Would you trade Miles, Jack and Frye for Chris Paul? That's really what we we're talking about here, at least if I understand what Kevin Pritchard is trying to do.

No to exchanging Sergio for Jack. I never hear Pritchard talk about Jack when talking about the future but Rodriguez is mentioned. As a bonus it would be really cool having a 2nd unit with four guys with Z in their last name. Rodriguez, Fernandez, Vazquez and Przybilla.

With the money that we would have with Miles still on the books, we would still be able to get Paul IF he were even available. As far as sergio goes.. Have you been watching the games? Did you hear what Quick said last week about the team not being pleased with his growth and that its no longer a foregone conclusion that Jack is gone and Sergio is the PG of the future?

then you haven't been listening.

he's talked about how Sergio see plays ahead of time, although he hasn't mentioned that lately as Sergio has been stinking things up.

But several times I've heard him talk about character, about culture, about chemistry, and about leadership, and he's mentioned Jack every single time.

That isn't to say he wouldn't trade him in the right deal, but he'd be inclined to keep jack because of Jack's ability. Right now, Sergio's biggest value may be to make sure Rudy signs with Portland this summer.

You may be right Wiz. Perhaps it's just my personal feelings coloring my perception of the situation. Jack is certainly the more solid player but I don't see him having the same upside as Sergio.

I don't see either as the long-term answer at point though which is what this trade is about. Personally I don't have a whole lot of faith in the 2009 cap-space plan because Chris Paul and Deron Williams will be the only you PG's on the market and they're both restricted. Counting on George Shinn being really cheap is not a very realistic plan IMHO. Kevin Pritchard sure seems to believe in it though.
