Elton Brand Top 5 PF?

Post#1 » by randomhero423 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 4:24 pm

Do you think Elton Brand is a top 5 PF?

I say yes.

He plays better defense then Dirk and Amare. i think he's #3 behind KG and Duncan.

if you disagree state your reasons why.

Brand is an elite defender and shot blocker, Bosh and Boozer aren't. It's really that simple.

If fully healthy he is probably # 4 or 5 clearly behind Duncan, Garnett, and Dirk. No guarantee he comes back 100% unfortunately.

I'd put him fifth behind TD/KG/CB4/Boozer. Amare isn't a PF btw.

Pre-injury I'd rank him #4 behind Duncan, Garnett and Dirk. Over guys like Bosh, Boozer, and others because he's a much better defender while being a wash on the offensive end.

Bosh is becoming a very good defender already if you haven't been noticing. Boozer is on his own level in terms of bad defence. Boozer is much more of a force on offense than Brand and Bosh because of his strength.

Yup, when he's 25/10, with great D and nice passing, he's easily better than Boozer/Bosh IMO. No guarantees though.

"Very good" is an exaggeration.

Pre-Injury, yes. We'll have to see what he's like when he comes back.

Not sure exactly where, but I'd have Brand in my top 5. He might not be as offensively dominant as a guy like Boozer, but he plays much better defense and can still get you 20 & 10. And the dude has been very consistent, putting up those same sort of numbers every year since he came into the league. I like Brand a lot.
