I think in the summer we will have to choose between Deng and Gordon, we won't resign both. And i would choose Gordon, he's more important in our system and will be better player longterm.

Nothing about that post agrees with any opinion I hold regarding Luol Deng.

I see Deng as another non-producer once he gets his mega-bucks.

I'd rather dump him now and have Deng non-produce for someone else.

Being that he's the most productive player this team has, that strikes me as a strange post.

I realize that Deng didn't take a huge step forward (yet) this season from last season. But he didn't regress and the season isn't even half over yet. Plus, he's been battling 2 nagging injuries.

We've got guys on this team who have taken MAJOR steps backwards this season. Deng isn't one of them.

DanTown:

You make up some of the worst trade proposals for Chicago I have ever seen. Are you serious with them? Could you put some words in to discuss your reasoning? If not, I'm going to start just assuming that you are trolling to get a rise out of people.

So this isnt really about trading deng this is really about getting gasol. I think we had that thread a while ago. I wouldnt wanna trade a guy who is the perfect second option to a big man or to a distributing pg.

i said this a long time ago. deng is good, but i believe we have to give him up for something we NEED. im all for deng/gasol and build around that.

I've long though Deng was one our most valuable trade pieces, his apparent potential and Pax's PR campaign to raise his value has inflated it somewhat and at this point, I think he is one player we have which is most likely to fetch us something that we need and I'd be down for trading him, so long as we get what we're looking for.

that said, I'm not too crazy about Gasol, he puts up pretty good numbers on a team which revolves around him, given that he should be putting up better numbers, hes soft, and something about the way he looks makes me not want him to be on the bulls.

the Kwame/Odom/1st for Wallace/Deng trade however is a bit more appealing, we get an expiring which will come in handy this offseason, we get rid of Wallace thus clearing up some time for Noah, and more hopefully Tyrus, and we get Odom as well as maintaining our sweepstakes in the LeBron/Bosh free agency, and I'm not crazy about Odom, but I think he'd fit the bill til its time to go after Bosh...or Lebron.

I would never give Deng up for Odom, regardless of getting rid of Wallace.

First off, definitely not trolling. Secondly I will give my reasons for the trades. The Memphis trade is a feeling that Thabo could play good minutes at the three and I sent the pick in a deal that had us getting Lowry, but then took him out and not the pick. Essentially I see us trading Deng-Noce-Tyrus for Gasol-Warrick-Navarro. I think that helps us get a proven scorer down low and we could then succeed with Hinrich, Navarro, Thabo and Noah to help the scoring. On to the LA trade, I have zero problem with that trade. We get an expiring C, a young PG who could help replace Duhon and/or Gordon, a late first rounder and I believe Odom would be a really good three in the East, probably good enough to replace enough of Deng that getting rid of Wallace for no bad deal makes it worth it.
