Pistons' Billups Happy He Stayed In Detroit?

Post#1 » by Driguez » Mon Jan 21, 2008 11:02 pm

*wiretap*

Chauncey Billups expected the Orlando Magic to be one of the teams to make a bid for him when he became a free agent over the summer.

"There were some teams that were talking certain situations, and Orlando was one of them," Billups told A. Sherrod Blakely of MLive.com. "I won't get into the particulars, but they weren't talking to me like they were talking to someone else."

That's too bad, I wouldn't hate him any more if he played for us.

He was probably my first option in free agency... but I'm happy with 'Shard, so there's no use to look back now.

Whats the point of even discussing this? Everyone knew he was coming back to that team. Its like he is trying to find motivation to destroy us again. Like they would need any.

We would have had to waive Darko's rights to sign Billups just like we did to sign Shard. Darko was going regardless.

Had we seen the crystal ball of how good Hedo was gonna be this year... He would have been the guy I'd be spending my money on. But that won't change anything now.

That was the right move for the Magic, Billups and Gerald Wallace, now we are stuck with the dwarf, that can't pass or play defense, thanks Otis.....

Sarcasm?

One thing that annoys me is comments like that. How in the hell could we have landed Billups AND Wallace? I really really doubt Billups would have left if we offered him the same amount of money as the pistons did. In order to change his mind we would have offered him a pretty hefty deal. There is no scenario where we land two AS calibre players. And as Ive said several times GW wouldnt have helped Dwight Howards game one bit. He cant shoot very well and loves to crash the rim. All thats goin to do is allow defenses to sag and keep Dwight out of games. I do agree with Kaz however, if anyone could have predicted how good Hedo would play Billups should have been the main target. But I dont think youd find a single person who called Hedo for 19/6/4 before the season. Im very happy with Shard.

I have nothing to add. I just like going to any thread that Driguez posts in. He has the best Avatars.
