Should the Clippers be fined?
When the Clippers were at 49 Sam Cassell shot 2 free throws and made only 1. He was credited for making both, and it was never fixed. Obviously this wasn't a big deal because it ended up being a blowout but what if it wasn't. What if the Jazz lost by one or tied and went into overtime and lost. So my question is should the Clippers be fined? The Hawks were fined $50,000 dollars for almost the same situation only that it did affect the outcome. Either way The Clipper's did make the mistake which is against the rules. Should the NBA let it slide since it didn't affect the outcome or should they stick to the letter of the law?

If the Jazz had lost by a possession, the game would be replayed IMHO like the Miami game...
but as it is now, they will probably just reduce the Clips official score by 1 in the books and case closed....

The Hawks/Heat thing was a little different. Shaq had been ruled fouled out and was forced to leave the game--even though it was only his 5th foul. Therefore, the rest of the game was played unfairly with Shaq being ruled disqualified.
The Hawks scoretable guys were found "grossly negligent" by David Stern after an investigation.
I would expect that in this case, the score would be officially corrected and everyone would move on.

What happened tonight was "grossly negligent". Who's to say Shaq would have scored any points or had any impact? Sure you could say he would, but thats speculation on your part. Tonight an official point was awarded to the Clippers. Had they won by won or it was a close game at the end of the game, that point would HAVE affected the play of the game no DOUBTS about it.
Sure it's one point, but it could've been huge. Yes the Clippers should be fined.

"grossly negligent" are David Stern's words (hence the quotes). You are welcome to check the news stories on NBA.com if you don't believe me. He didn't speculate what that means nor did I. This board could use a little anger management.

If you go in here...

Scroll down to 8:19 left on the 3rd quarter. It says there that they didn't count the free throw. Perhaps our always perfect people from FSN Utah lagged once more on getting this resolved sooner.
But officially, it was counter off. This comes from the scores table.
