We Need To Miss the Playoffs

Post#1 » by bullzman23 » Tue Jan 22, 2008 1:09 am

If it wasn't clear before, it should be clear now. I don't feel like writing anything long-winded so I'll just put up some bullet points.

If we miss the playoffs....

- We'll definitely replace Boylan. If we make it, he'll stay.

- Paxson will fall out of love with his players and make a trade. If we make them he'll come back with the same team.

- We'll get a better pick and a chance in the lottery. Drafts can be hit or miss, but with talent being such a serious question, we need to take our chances.

- The worse we get, the more likely Sefolosha, Thomas, and Noah replace Duhon, Wallace, and Smith in the lineup.

I rather tried to make the playoffs, then we need to miss the playoffs if we don't make it well it sucks but we'll move forward see where we go.

If we make the playoffs well Boylan stays but isn't it confirmed that if Boylan get his team to make the playoffs he'll stay as head coach or just the assistance coach? I rather have him remove completely personally no matter playoffs or not.

We're not going to make the playoffs, and we better not make a kneejerk trade to attempt a half-assed playoff push.

Lets say we make the playoffs as the #8 seed? what will happen? a 4 game sweep and then we end up with a 14 15th pick? c'mon its over, lets go get our pick.

Can you explain to me the benefits of losing in the first or second round again?

The only way I can see the playoffs being worthwhile for us is we some how can climb up to the 4th or 5th seed...upset in round one and then face Detroit in the semis. We could upset them and get to the ECF. It's unlikely that we do that.

I'd like us to revamp our Coaching Staff. The only I *might* keep is Pete. But even that is a stretch. We need a coaching dynamo. Does D'Antoni have anyone on his bench we think could benefit our Bulls? How about Jim Cleamons or Frank Hamblin? (Ok, joking about those two Triangles!)

Unless *THIS* Bulls team gets its act together and start playing better ball, I'm all for missing the playoffs by a huge margin. We need a polished young player, one with a lot of talent. Rose maybe, another Gordon perhaps (but he's short too....), Beasley (my #1 choice),... the list can go on forever.

First of all we are only 2 games out of the playoffs. I don't understand why we have to miss playoffs because of the lottery what if the Bulls get a 10 - 13 pick?

^ Exactly! Assume we do miss the playoff there is guarantee that we get the top pick hell no guarantee we'll get the top five for that matter.

This "lets tank" talk was, is, and always a bad idea.

I dont want us to be the Boston Celtics of last year or Minny of this year but whats the benefit of making it to the playoffs this year? I think if we can get a nice pick and use it in a trade we can be right there next year.

I really do not see how tanking would be a bad idea at this point? Explain.

We're going to get molested in the playoffs if we do make it..

Tanking and getting possibly a top 3 pick lands us a franchise player.

You would rather win a few games down the stretch and then get molested in the playoffs instead of possibly getting a franchise player?

Yeah, but playing well and losing in the first or second round means no progress.

We'll probably come back with the same flawed roster, same idiot coach, a less talented rookie, and less experience for Thomas and Noah.

Play the youngsters. If we lose 50+ games, so be it.

Couldn't agree more. It'd be a dream come true and get us a top 5 pick

We will finish with the 6th seed, you heard it here first. We're about to finish 26-16 to finish 42-40.

One of these days I need to make a new thread about where I"m coming from about this "lets tank" idea I don't want to discuss that here because it's a whole different topic.

But let say we do "tank" As I mention there is no guarantee we'll get the top three pick and eve if we do get the top three pick there is no guarantee that that player will plan out that we are hoping in a few years.

Another thing there is no guarantee for which ever players going to enter the draft or not.

If we get a top three pick and that "franchise player" plans out great that is a possibility, but you got to look the other possibilities too as I mention above.

Lets tank crap is over-rated. And Paxson along with Boylan ain't giving up on the season especially with 42 games left and Bulls ONLY 2 games out from Indiana (ironically next opponent) for the 8th spot and only 3 games back for the 7th spot (Atlanta).

The other possibilities is we have bad luck and do not get a star, but what do we really sacrifice? This season is lost anyway.

We're getting bad luck getting the star anyways should get use to it by now :P

But seriously as I mention above there is not guarantee of getting a star or a player become what we are hoping that plans out.
