Toronto Needs A Back Up Point Guard. CHI/TOR Trade

Since receiving clearance on January 9th to begin working out again, T.J. Ford has been in Houston training with John Lucas.

According to the Toronto Sun, Ford's progress has been so promising that the Raptors will send Marc Eversley, the club's director of basketball operations, down to get a clearer picture of how soon he may be able to return.

Raptors' GM Bryan Colangelo will continue his search for a backup point guard, however, as there is still no timetable for Ford's return.

We are a team looking to get more size and scoring in our backcourt, and we could get a temporary rental off the bench for more scoring.

Then Toronto has their PG rotation of the future, and Duhon will come cheap for an extension at about 3 or 4 million. And Calderon will be cheaper than Ford. They can trade Ford and upgrade in their frontcourt.

Dixon is a SG, but he can play a little point, and at 6-3 that's not bad either. Delfino is a rental in limited minutes, but if Sefolosha doesn't pan out, then we can maybe try and re-sign Delfino (if he comes cheap).

So Moon can join the log jam at the 3?

Delfino is the only realistically obtainable option that makes sense for us. Dixon is a mini Gordon and Graham sucks while he would also be joining the SF log jam.

From what little I have seen of Moon, he looks much more like a SG and certainly moves like one. Is he not capable there? I know he can get to the rim.

Depends on what you want out of your SG. He is certainly capable of guarding 2's, and his shot has improved to the point that he can't be left completely alone on the perimeter as teams were doing previously. One thing that he is just now doing more is going to the basket, even though we'd still like to see him do it more often. You'd lose some of Moon's strengths by playing at the SG though, shot blocking and rebounding, by playing him further from the hoop.

Doesn't really look like their trading Bargnani since they're getting that big man coach for him. But that trade still creates log jams at SF. Bargnani is more of a 3 than a 4.

he is young and not established what he will be. defensively, which is all that matters for position he is a 4 or 5. with strength over time i think he can be a 5 in todays revamped style nba.

bargs hasnt panned out yet, but since noah and TT are duplication of sorts, better to turn one of them into an underachieving high risk high reward offensive type player.
