Suns and Grizz

Post#1 » by Stix » Tue Jan 22, 2008 12:04 pm

Diaw + Banks + Piatkowski + ATL pick

for

Mike Miller + D. Stoudamire + Future 1st

Suns: They get a great player for their system in Mike Miller who would be better off the bench than Diaw, they also get a back-up point in Mighty Mouse, who can spare Nash some minutes, but also provide vet PG experience by being able to run the floor.

Grizz: They get two players who fit Iavaroni's uptempo system in Memphis. Diaw would work great next to Gasol as they are both good passers and Banks was been doing very well as of late and will get playing time in Memph.

Neither Diaw nor Banks are incentive enough for the Grizz to part with Miller; and any value the ATL pick has (which is significantly less and less as the season progresses and ATL continues to play decent) is negated by the inclusion of a future first by Memphis. An easy "no" for Memphis IMO.

Negated? If the season ended today the Grizz would have a top 5 pick while the Hawks aren't even in the lottery. That's negative value.

I doubt the Grizz would even do Miller for Diaw, let alone move half-way down the draft in the process.

@ Hunter: I agree that the Grizzlies would reject this offer, but phungk's proposal says "Future 1st", so Memphis would keep their pick and add another 1st rounder this year. I doubt the pick the Suns would receive within the next few years would end up in the top 5, not to mention that this could be prevented by putting some sort of protection on it anyway.

Pass, not a horrible offer, but if the Grizz were to trade MM they should get better IMO.

Memphiswould not want Banks. They have Conley and Lowry...how would Banks find playing time? They deactivated Damon b/c there were not enough PG minutes to go around. Diaw is not what the Grizz need either. If they traded Mike Miller, I would think they would be looking for defense and rebounding, neither of which is Diaw's strongpoint. Also, the inclusion of a future 1st for Memphis would be a deal breaker. The Atlanta pick is a mid rounder in 2008 as of now. There is no guarantee that the Grizz will be better in the future, so they are potentially giving up the better player and the better draft pick in this deal. I think Memphis passes.
