If we are not serious, then this exercise amounts to little more than pick your 5 favorite players.

The point of this thread isn't to say "who can we trade all the other players you wouldn't keep to?" ...but rather to say "which 5 would you keep" if you had the chance to simply dump everyone else at no cost. At that point, the answer becomes very easy: young guys with upside and low cost contracts.

Just checked. The OP asked who we'd want to build with. Did not stipulate any rules about having to get rid of anyone else.

Even so, we could buyout Wallace or send him home with a big paid vaca for all I care. Either way we "get rid" of him.

Well I guess I see some value in that as a gauge of talent. But I was looking at it more like which 5 players should Pax try to put behind the firewall, and then look to actively shop any or all of the rest to build around those 5. But of course, it wouldn't be so easy as that.

Deng, Gordon, Hinrich, Thabo, Noah -- I'd like to keep Tyrus and Noc as well, but someone has to go if the Bulls have ay chance of tradign for a true star.

first, I don't think anyone is untradeable. That being said, the main players I'd like to keep are Luol, Noc, Noah and if you pressure me to name 5, I'd add BG and one of Tyrus/Kirk.

Luol: young and talented, he's like the ultimate chicken, but with a good casting role he can do real damage.
Noc: the heart of a team that needs DESPERATELY somebody willing to do EVERYTHING to win.
Noah: big, young and could be developed into a gritty fighter

then...

BG: arguably the most talented, although I think he's trying to get the "who care less" prize. BW as contender.
Tyrus: I can't see what everybody sees, but if everybody sees it, then there must be something. At least he's young, so that's a good start.
Kirk: I think he's strongly identified with Bulls, I don't think any team will give much for him and there's a chance he can get out of the slump.

HM: Gray. Something alog the lines of what I've said about Noah.

I like Joe, but he's old, so no reason to keep him. 2 good games (out of 10s sucky) from Thabo still don't tell me much. I hate BW attitude and he's not exactly a "gifted" player. Duhon is invisible. Krhyapa and Griffin aren't worth the mention

Deng, Tyrus, Thabo, Hinrich, Noah/BG. I'd give up any of them but Deng, Tyrus, and Hinrich (depending on the deal for Hinrich and Tyrus), and anybody else in a trade for a quality deal/star player.

Nocioni/BG/Tyrus or Noah are the most attractive and realistic for a trade.
