Pacers/Nets/Sonics

Post#1 » by coolweed » Tue Jan 22, 2008 6:55 pm

Pacers
Out: JO and Diogu
In: West, Wilcox and Wally

Nets
Out: Jefferson, Collins and Williams
In: JO

Sonics
Out West, Wilcox and Wally
In: Jefferson, Collins, Diogu and Williams

Pacers get backup PG in West, younger PF who doesn't need the ball in his hands in Wilcox and backup perimeter shooting in Wally and secured for next year if Rush gets a better offer. Loose promising prospect in Diogu.

Nets breakup the 'Big 3' and move to low presence with JO. They keep the shorter contract of Carter and have three veterans at three positions to lead the team. They do loose promising prospect in Williams.

Sonics get Jefferson in tandem with Durant for high explosion offense, promising bigs in Diogu and Williams to replace Wilcox and take on Collins who becomes expiring contract trade bate for next year. They do loose bench play of Wally (overpriced contract though) and proven starter in Wilcox.

As always, trying to make the Pacers better considering rumors that have floated about without trying to rape any other team. Respond if you like but without hating.

It seems like the Sonics get, by far, the best deal.

I also can't see Indy too awfully excited for this as well, even with JO's recent decision to rest his knee. Giving up Diogu is definitely too much.

Value wise, yes, but it still makes no sense at all for the Sonics, as they don't need Jefferson with Durant and Green already on the team.

So even if it's great value, the Sonics would most likely decline.

They don't need Jefferson but I'd love to have Sean Williams.

agreed. It's hard to pass on Sean Williams.

just find a 4th team to take Jefferson. A lot of teams can certainly use RJ and will probably give a lot for him.

I'd rather trade Wilcox and the Sonics highest second rounder for Sean Williams and Mags who is expiring.

The Nets aren't going to trade Sean Williams nor would they take JONeal until they are 100% convinced that he can play this season.

Great deal for the Sonics, value wise. Terrible for Indy and NJ. If Indy and NJ could come to an agreement like this, then Seatle would be cut out... but then it is not a good deal for NJ.

Yeah, this trade doesn't make much sense on a few fronts. The Nets are getting highend service from Jefferson, and Williams is just showing them the tip of the iceburg as a rookie. Jermaine O'neal is once again shelved with a bad knee and can't help the Nets.

The Pacers do not so bad based purely on the diversification of positions they receive. But Szczerbiak isn't going to give them much more than Dunleavy and Murphy already do, not to mention Granger taking up big minutes. It's tough to justify taking in a guy with another year after this one at $13mil if there's no room for him.

As a Sonics fan I have to disagree with my fellow fans. I think a veteran like Jefferson would take so much of a load off Durant that it would improve Durant's game. Teams couldn't any longer plan to shut off Durant knowing Jefferson is there. Sean Williams would be part of the same age group that would grow with the Sonics and provide that inside presence. Collins really is only there for salary match purpose but that's okay.

Nope, I can't see this one having a snowballs chance.

I always thought Wilcox & Jo would make a sweet pairing, but maybe not now in O'B's system. Still, w/ JO out & IN needing a post presence, (& some shooting), the only Sea/IN deal that's even close I can see is:
Incoming Players
Delonte West
Chris Wilcox
Luke Ridnour

Outgoing Players
David Harrison
Jamaal Tinsley
Marquis Daniels

Tinsley would be an upgrade @ PG for Sea, & only 1 yr longer then Luke. He expires the same yr as Durant & Green, making the length of th contract not so bad for them. Daniels can help @ the 2, while DH expires t/y. IN could use Wilcox & West, while cutting a yr of Tin's deal w/ Luke.
(NJ doesn't fit unless the want to give IN Williams & Collins for Wilcox - & they don't!)

Hmm.. I sorta like this.

Ridnour/Diener
Rush/West
Dunleavy/Williams
Granger/Williams/Murphy
Wilcox/Foster/Murphy

Okay this trade works in the checker, it's an expansion of the original Idea, too large to actually happen.

Seattle Sends: Damien Wilkins, Chris Wilcox, Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak, Kurt Thomas, Sea 2nd rounder, PHX 08 first
Seattle Receives: Jason Collins, Sean Williams, Lamar Odom, Ike Diogu, Kwame Brown

Indiana Sends: Jermaine O'Neal, Ike Diogu
Indiana Receives: Chris Wilcox, Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West, PHX 08 first rounder

New Jersey Sends: Jason Collins, Richard Jefferson, Sean Williams
New Jersey Receives: Jermaine O'Neal, Damien Wilkins, LAL 08 first

Los Angeles Sends: Kwame Brown, Lamar Odom, 08 First
Los Angeles Receives: Richard Jefferson, Kurt Thomas, Sea 2nd rounder

Seattle gets away with robbery. With JO's injury issues, this is a bad deal for NJ.
